Summertime sessions (and weddings!) are in full swing – I’m excited to share a beautiful Hickory Creek Forest Preserve engagement session today!
Meet Jen and Tom! Their story goes back a couple of years when they met online over the holidays and went out for happy hour drinks. Then, this past winter, Tom surprised Jen with a proposal! He recruited Jen’s best friend to come over to take pictures of them in their backyard with their pup, Rhylee, in the snow… Or so Jen thought. The next thing she knew, Jen turned around and Tom was down on one knee. Afterward, he planned a surprise engagement party at the bar where they first met for happy hour. He had all of their family and friends there to celebrate, too!
I connected with these two through the sweetest, Jade, and am forever thankful for that. Over the past few weeks, we’ve been planning a summer engagement AND maternity session for this couple. They will welcome a sweet baby into their life in July! Then, it’s full speed ahead to their winter wedding day in February!
On the evening of their session, we met up at Hickory Creek Forest Preserve… And it was perfect! The couple, the light, the weather – all of it! We were thankful for all the stars aligning for this session, especially before a busy summer kicks off for Jen and Tom and before the baby arrives.
I loved photographing these two! They told me this was the first time they had been professionally photographed together. And you guys, they rocked it! They were naturals and so comfortable in front of the camera. We had so much fun laughing and telling stories throughout their session – it felt like hanging out with friends. If this says anything about what their wedding day will be like, we can’t wait!
I adore this couple and am so excited for this new season they’re entering this summer and can’t wait for the wedding next year!
