Spring mini sessions are making their way to the blog, and I’m so excited to share this year’s beautiful day at the studio!
I recently hosted my annual spring mini sessions at my natural light studio in downtown Kankakee, Studio 388. This day is always such a highlight of the season, and I love welcoming both familiar faces and new families into the space I get to call my creative home.
This year brought a chilly but sunny spring day, and I was so grateful to stay cozy inside the studio while soft natural light poured through the windows. I had the joy of photographing several spring mini sessions throughout the day… Capturing families and moments that I know will be treasured for years to come.
One of my favorite parts of spring mini sessions is designing a setup that feels simple, timeless, and true to the season. This year, I created a neutral setup using my new arch backdrops, paired with fresh plants that brought in just the right touch of life and texture. I loved how this combination created something unique yet still soft and minimal. And as always, I leaned into neutral tones and natural elements throughout the space. The arch details paired with greenery gave the studio a fresh feel that photographed beautifully. It felt like the perfect evolution of my spring setup, and I loved how everything came together so effortlessly.
My favorite part of the day was getting to welcome so many returning clients into the studio. There is something incredibly meaningful about watching families grow year after year and continuing to document their story. Spring mini sessions always feel like a reminder of how lucky I am to do what I do and to do it with the best people.
