It’s that time of the year! The Pantone color of the year 2022 is here… Very Peri!
Each year, I enjoy taking a look at the Pantone color of the year from a wedding lens, especially as a wedding photographer. I’ll be honest, this year, my first reaction is – not a fan! After I explore more inspiration and let my creativity run, I can see how this color could very easily be an accent color throughout wedding days… Think floral touches, paper goods, and more.
According to the Pantone website, Very Peri is “a new Pantone color whose courageous presence encourages personal inventiveness and creativity.” This newly created color combines the trusted blue color family with red-violet undertones. Now, this color is starting to grow on me for its root and symbols of transformation, moving forward, and new light. I will gladly welcome all of that after the last two years!
As I look back on past wedding seasons and engagement sessions, we haven’t seen a ton of Very Peri before aside from accents in wedding flowers. What do you think? Will we start to see Very Peri throughout the 2022 wedding season? Here are three ways I think we might see the Pantone color of the year in 2022…
1) Flowers
As I looked back on past weddings from this year, I came across a favorite where a close match to Very Peri where it was already incorporated into the flowers! Okay, I can totally see this taking on for wedding flowers throughout 2022. Little touches of Very Peri can be oh so classic with a little touch of fun and punch!
2) Engagement Sessions
Engagement sessions will be one of the easiest times to incorporate the new year’s Pantones. From dresses, ties, and button-up shirts… Engagement session outfits can be all about the new Pantone colors if you want them to be!
3) Paper Goods
And finally, paper goods! Paper goods are a seemingly small but truly big part of a wedding day. Paper goods are a detail that bring everything together on your wedding day. I always think that paper goods are a simple, understated place to incorporate the new Pantone colors year after year.
Here’s to the new Pantone for 2022, Very Peri, and maybe seeing it throughout the 2022 wedding season!
