Happy February, friends!
2018 is off to a wonderful start after wrapping up the first month of the new year! While we’ve been running around quite a bit the last month, I have definitely been trying to enjoy my “winter retreat” months where I get to stay in, read lots of books, and work on business projects behind the scenes.
The month started out with spending time (our little “Christmas” gathering and dinner) with my best girlfriends of over ten years. These girls are my people, and I love them dearly. We all share an unbreakable friendship that picks up wherever we last left off, and I am thankful for this bond. Then, the first week of the year moved into a lunch date with family and time with our new nephew Cooper (see his adorable outfit compliments of Auntie Kara and Uncle Kyle – my hubby loves bow ties so obviously we had to buy that outfit when we saw it!). And then the dreaded flu bug hit our house, and Kyle and I quarantined ourselves for over 72 hours to rest and recover. Not fun, friends!
After we were feeling better, the first weekend of January brought the Majestically Yours Bridal Show, and this was my first time participating. What fun it was! After the weekend, I got to snuggle our nephew a little more at his lifestyle newborn session and photograph our first wedding of the year (plus just a handful of sessions this month, too). Then, it was wonderful to spend extra time with our niece Anna Pixley before she moved to Alaska.
The middle of the month brought the annual friends ski trip weekend – this year was the first that Kyle and I could go, and it was a blast! We had so much fun checking out, getting away, and letting loose! This was the first time I had gone skiing since I was around 6 or 7 years old – so basically I was a first timer – and it was Kyle’s first time on the slopes, too. Our first day of skiing (me) and snowboarding (Kyle) was a little rough, and we ended up with some battle wounds LOL. You guys, I’m telling ya that that first day was seriously rough, and I didn’t know if I was going to make it off the bunny hill after only skiing for 15 minutes. Ha! But we managed to get the hang of things and had an awesome second day of skiing that weekend!
And the end of the month brought two family dinners, early birthday cake and ice cream with my grandma, and our first ever photography class! Kyle and I loved it so!
To say that January was packed is an understatement, but we wouldn’t have had it any other way! Here’s to finding happiness and joy in February 🙂
