I am SO happy to share about Katie and Jordan’s love story and engagement session on the blog today! These two… LOVE them!

Late this summer, Katie and Jordan reached out to me about photographing their September 2017 wedding day. I loved hearing about the start of their love story in October 2014… How their relationship grew, how they moved to a new city for new jobs and adventures together, and how they were enjoying settling into their home in a new city together. And the best part of it all? I loved learning that these two were planting roots in a city exactly between both of their families and hometowns!

I immediately felt connected these two after hearing of their love story – their bond was already beautiful to me. After having a phone consult, I prayed that they would trust me to document their day! Soon after, these two jumped in and booked engagement and wedding photography with By Kara. Then, the engagement session planning began!

From the start, Katie and Jordan were so excited for their e-session, and I LOVED that. Nothing could damper their excitement… Not even the silly weather! I’ve said it before, but I sometimes wish that I could control the weather. This year, we were amazingly fortunate to have a gorgeous fall season, but I did run into a little bit of rain and rescheduling (but thankfully only twice – whew!). Of course, Katie and Jordan’s originally scheduled session date happened to be on a stormy early November day.

By the time their new session date finally arrived, the day had a dreary start, but by the time of their session, the skies cleared, and we had a lovely day for photos! The three of us were amazed by that beautiful blessing, and the lasting fall scenery all afternoon long. At their session, I loved exploring local spots in Champaign with Katie and Jordan – the University of Illinois Arboretum, U of I campus spots, a Starbucks (Katie’s saving grace!), and of course, one of their favorite restaurants The Blind Pig Co. 

I’m sure you’ll easily be able to see the love and bond between these two. I cannot wait for their wedding next year!
