Hi friends! Happy Sunday! Over the past few days, you’ve probably noticed that “By Kara” has taken on a completely different look… That’s right! Say hello to Kara Evans Photographer!
Since officially starting my business out of my cramped college dorm room in 2013, I have learned so much and grown tremendously. Each day is still a process of learning, growth, and ups and downs, but the foundation has been built, and I am extremely fortunate to call this job my joy… My full-time “job” for the past year. It’s still so surreal to me.
This business has been my “baby” if you will! I’ve nurtured it from the beginning, when I had no idea what small business ownership would entail, to today where this business is my pride and joy… My creative outlet and way to serve others.
What I’m trying to say with all of this is, well, I’m attached to my business, brand, and experience that I offer to my people! So, change doesn’t come easily for me, but I started to realize that I was growing out of the By Kara business name + brand. By Kara will always be where I started and the root of my business, but as my business has grown and matured, I felt it was time for a change.
With all of this came my nerves and inner worrier! Change is soooo hard sometimes, and I’ll be the first one to tell you that I was comfortable with my branding and business name. I was comfortable, but deep inside yearning for something more. I started to really think back to when I became a wife in 2014 and took the name of Kara Evans… At the time, it was a little bittersweet to me that my “new” name wasn’t part of my branding + business name, but I kept that in the back of my mind… And soon enough, near the end of 2016, I realized that it was time to take the plunge and make a change. But I had no idea where to begin!
With top-notch service and portfolio work in mind, I knew I was looking for someone who specialized in Squarespace websites, and I also wanted a full rebrand for my business. I needed to find the perfect person(s) that I clicked with, and I wanted to support a small business, too. Luckily, the Rising Tide Society was an amazing resource to me, and I stumbled across a lady named Britt Hyatt of Home Sweet Hyatt Studios. I immediately visited Britt’s website, read reviews, and browsed other client sites she had completed. (I realized that this is probably how my clients feel while searching for their wedding and/or family photographer… It was a beautiful experience to be in their shoes!) At this point, I felt connected to Britt. I couldn’t pinpoint why, but I knew that I HAD to email her.
To my surprise, she responded almost immediately, and I knew that this would be the start of something amazing. As Britt and I talked, she told me of her collaboration with Kelsey Waild of Honey Side Up Creative for full rebrands + website redesigns. I knew it was the perfect time to say “YES” and dive in! From the start, these ladies were amazing. I still cannot adequately put into words nor express how much their guidance, support, and organization helped make this experience far more than I could have imagined. Britt and Kelsey were meticulous, sensitive to all of these “changes”, and more importantly, like long lost friends I had yet to meet.
I am so fortunate and forever grateful to have found this duo… The rebranding + website redesign process felt daunting to me at first and let’s face it, change is SCARY. I was moving past By Kara and onto something new – Kara Evans Photographer. Britt and Kelsey truly made this entire experience A DREAM.
Today, I am so happy to share this little bit of the “behind the scenes” story of the new Kara Evans Photographer. I’m still here – the same talkative and outgoing Kara – but with a defined brand and clearer focus on my clients, the experience, and the relationships I have built and will build in the future. This brand is totally me and representative of my work – I am IN LOVE! The sky is the limit now! So, while By Kara will always be the foundation of my business and journey, here’s to another path in this journey. Welcome, Kara Evans Photographer!
