It is always such a joy when a family I have photographed before comes back in front of my camera, and I was so excited to hear from the Foote family again this summer! I first photographed their family in the fall of 2025, so when they reached out about doing a simple studio session with their kiddos before the start of a new school year, I knew it was going to be such a fun one. With one little one heading to preschool and another heading into another year of grade school, this felt like the perfect time to pause and document this sweet season of their family.
We kept this session incredibly simple, and honestly, I loved everything about it! A white backdrop, denim, and two adorable kiddos were really all we needed. The simplicity of the setup allowed their personalities to shine. These two brought so much fun and energy to the studio! We danced, we played, and we giggled… And somewhere in between, we captured some really sweet portraits that I know their family will treasure.
There is something I especially love about photographing children at these in-between ages. They are growing and changing so quickly… I know it’s so easy to think that professional photos are something you only need to do when your kiddos are babies or when your family is in a certain season of life. But your family’s story doesn’t stop there. Preschool, grade school, junior high, high school, and every season in between are all part of the story worth remembering.
That is one of my favorite things about family photography. It isn’t just about documenting the newest addition or checking a milestone off the list. It is about telling the story of your family as it changes and grows over the years. The way your kids laugh together, the little personalities, and all of the little things that make this season yours.
So if you have been thinking about getting photos of your kiddos, let this session be your sign to do it! You don’t need an elaborate setup or a complicated reason. Sometimes a simple studio session and a little dancing and fun are more than enough to bottle up this season.
I loved every minute of this one with the Foote family and am so happy I got to see these sweet kiddos again!
