Some couples make you feel like you’ve known them forever, and that is exactly how I felt photographing Paige and Jacob for their engagement session!
These two met several years ago, started dating, and have since made Bourbonnais home. They found my work thanks to Paige’s cousin, Lizzie, whose wedding I had the honor of photographing a few years ago. I am always so grateful when past clients send their people my way, and I was thrilled to get to know Paige and Jacob.
When we started planning their engagement session, the Kankakee River State Park felt like the perfect choice. Paige and Jacob love being outdoors and love running together. The state park is actually a place they spend time together doing just that. I love when we can choose a location that isn’t just pretty for photos but also has a little piece of a couple’s story woven into it. It made the session feel so natural to them! I loved getting to photograph them in a place they love!
The weather was a little questionable leading up to their session, to say the least. It was a super gray and cloudy day with rain earlier that morning. We were definitely keeping an eye on the forecast. Thankfully, the skies cleared just in time, and we ended up with a gorgeous summer evening. It was sunny, hot, and humid, but I will gladly take all of that when it means beautiful evening light! The sunshine made its way through the trees as we explored some of my favorite spots throughout the park. We were truly in awe of the most beautiful evening for their engagement photos.
More than anything, though, I loved how much this session felt like Paige and Jacob. They were playful, comfortable, and completely themselves together, which is always my goal when photographing couples. I want your photos to feel like you, not like you are trying to recreate someone else’s Pinterest board. Give me the way you laugh together, the way you look at each other, the things you love doing side by side, and I’ll take care of the rest.
I am so excited for Paige and Jacob as they continue this next chapter together, and I am even more excited that I got to document a little piece of their story for them. These two were such a joy to photograph. I hope they love these photos as much as I loved creating them!
