Happy Thursday, friends! I am LOVING these winter wedding days this year!
You probably remember Jennifer and Justin from their engagement session last spring. Like I wrote then, I remember knowing Jennifer since junior high when our neighboring schools played sports against one another. I always remember Jennifer as a kind, good-hearted soul, and that is no different today!
Jennifer and Justin met a few years ago when Jennifer was working at the campus bookstore at her college. They fell for each other in those days and have been together ever since! Then, last spring, Justin proposed to Jennifer while they visiting cabins in western Wisconsin. Justin proposed there on the porch after they returned from a walk through the forest… How very sweet!
On the day of Jennifer and Justin’s wedding day, my second shooter, Emily, and I arrived early (in anticipation of a little snow – more on that later!) and loved taking a little time to explore the scenery for photos in the Kenosha area. We were in awe of the beautiful lake water and beach in the wintertime… The water was nearly teal on that early February day and oh so pretty!
After the girls finished getting ready, we traveled to the ceremony location. This is on of my favorite parts of Jennifer and Justin’s wedding day… Jennifer is a teacher at a Lutheran school in Oak Creek, and these two chose to have their wedding ceremony take place at the very church school she teaches at. I love the meaning of this place at this point in their life together! And I love how each and every day that Jennifer walks in to teach at the school, she will remember her very wedding day in that place.
Another favorite moment of this day – cue the waterworks – was Jennifer’s emotional first look reveal with her dad. I was crying tears of joy behind my camera as I witnessed this beautiful moment between these two. The pure emotion and joy and excitement and love in this moment was amazing. And then Jennifer’s mom joined in for a little extra love and to give Jennifer a sweet custom handkerchief note… This moment will be everlasting in ALL of their hearts!
After a lovely ceremony at the church, the bridal party gathered and traveled back to Kenosha where the reception would take place. We were in LOVE with this small bridal party (2 bridesmaids, 2 groomsmen, and the most adorable flower girl, Harper!) on this wedding day. Oh yes, little miss Harper was the most adorable flower girl – wait until you see photos of her! Throughout the day, the bridal party was truly so easy-going and fun to work with! Plus, they braved the freezing cold weather and lakefront wind for us… They were awesome! And let me tell you, those photos were worth it!
I loved documenting Jennifer and Justin embracing, laughing, talking, and taking in their wedding day together while we were along the lakefront. These winter wedding day lakefront photos are breathtaking… And J + J’s love is even better!
Soon enough, it was time to join the reception at Circa on Seventh in Kenosha. This venue was SO unique and fitting for this wedding day! I also loved how their cranberry and charcoal wedding colors complimented the venue perfectly – it all truly worked hand-in-hand. Jennifer and Justin had all of their favorite people in this space, too, so it was just right.
At the end of the evening and just before dancing started, we were thankful for SNOW! We had been anticipating snow all day, and it finally arrived… So, of course, Jennifer and Justin (being as wonderful as they are) were up for sneaking out for a few snowy wedding photos. I love it!
Jennifer + Justin – Thank you for sharing your wedding day with us! You two are a joy to call clients and friends. Wishing you many, many years of married bliss!
