I’m telling ya… Engagement sessions are in FULL swing! I will have photographed five by the end of this month, which is more than my normal – spring is truly bringing many blessings + lovely light. I am thrilled to be photographing so much love in this season!
On a rare Saturday off from shooting a wedding, I met Jennifer and her fiancé Justin for their engagement session in the Kankakee-Bourbonnais area. You may remember Jennifer from a few years ago when I photographed a best friend’s session for her, and guess what? Her best friend from that session is now going to be her maid of honor on her wedding day!
Jennifer and I have known one another for years since we were in junior high and high school. Living in small towns, you often grow up knowing other small town kids through sports and school activities. I always remember Jennifer being so kind, and that’s no different today! So, when Jennifer and Justin got engaged earlier this year, I was sooooo excited to hear from her! Even though I hadn’t met Justin, I could tell that Jennifer was completely smitten with him and in love.
These two met over two years ago while Jen was in college and working at the campus bookstore! They have been together ever since, and then, Justin proposed this spring while they were visiting some cabins in western Wisconsin! I still envision the beauty of this scene!
Now, they’re planning their February wedding in Wisconsin, and I am so happy to get to be a part of this wedding journey by documenting it for them. And first stop, was their engagement session to document their love + relationship! We started the session in downtown Kankakee, and I LOVED that these two were up for a little exploring as I challenged myself to find new, unique textures and locations in the downtown area. You guys, I am in love with these downtown photos, and the chemistry between these two in the photos… We finished the session in a more organic, natural location, and again, the sunset was to die for. I am totally a sunset junkie… And I am NOT ashamed to admit it!
