Eeeek… I am THRILLED to share this sweet couple + engagement session with you today!
Cyndi and Jimmy found me on Google – gotta love it! And I am SO thankful they did + reached out so we could connect! These two met in August 2009 while working for an after school care program. And by November 2010, they went on their first date and have been together ever since! Then, this past October, the two went on a trip to Boston (Cyndi LOVES the east coast after living out there for seven years in the past). During their trip, they took a walk on Boston Harbor, and Jimmy proposed to Cyndi!
Over the past two months, I have loved getting to know these two through phone calls, emails, texts, their sessions, and even a dinner date. They are so welcoming (plus their pup Smokey is so so adorable – wait till you see him below) and kind! I love their approach to life and love always focusing on the simple side of things… These two are so laid back and sweet! Plus they are family people, so I am so very excited for their wedding day next year!
As we started planning their engagement session, I loved getting to know Cyndi’s style even better. She had such a clear vision for her session – incorporating wine + their love for camping. So, of course, we did it! Their session ended up being broken into a few parts because of some plot twists and CRAZY summer weather, but I just took it as a sign that God wanted us to get a little extra time together… And I am so thankful for that!
We started their session at my favorite place – Grapes & Hops – in downtown Kankakee. I mentioned the location to Cyndi, and these two love wine, so it was perfectly fitting! Plus, they even got meet a few of my favorites while we were shooting there. I was so proud and happy to introduce them to my people. The second part of their session took place at the Kankakee River State Park. We set up a camping scene, and even while Jimmy wasn’t too sure about the tent at first, these two ROCKED this part of the session. Even when the crazy weather came, these two were smiling, laughing, and making the best of the crazy summer storm! Finally, the last part of their session took place at one of my faoviret local places with tall grasses and beautiful sunsets. I am still in awe of the gorgeous sky that we were blessed with that evening.
