Happy dancing because Stephanie and Dan’s spring City Hall Events wedding day is here!
You probably remember Steph and Dan from their engagement photos last summer. These two are the most kind, incredible people and everyone that loves them is lucky to have them in their life! We adore this couple and feel honored to share their wedding day on the blog!
From The Couple
Mutual friends introduced us at an after work happy hour, and we hit it off right away. We met for coffee the next day and had our first date a few days after that!
We quickly learned that we are opposites in many ways. Dan is the extrovert – he can make a friend with anyone, anywhere, while I am the introvert. Dan “goes with the flow”, while I like to plan. However, we found that these are some of the reasons we work so well together! We challenge but complement each other. Most importantly, we share core values like the importance of family, communication, and trust.
Our go-to dates are trying new restaurants, bars, and breweries in the city. We have similar tastes in food and often end up ordering the same thing! We also love to travel and CAN’T WAIT for our honeymoon in Italy!
In April 2020, COVID had recently been declared a pandemic and Dan had to pivot from his original proposal plans that included friends and family. Dan decided to keep with his original date and proposed while we were on a walk downtown on my birthday. It will likely be my favorite birthday forever!
The Wedding Day
Gosh, this was the best day with the very best people celebrating Stephanie and Dan!
We started the day at The Emily Hotel in the Fulton Market District. We were blown away by the vibe of the hotel and how well it fit Steph and Dan’s vision for their special day! As we started shooting, we were greeted by their amazing wedding planner, Anne, who we adore, and the wedding party and hair and makeup team. What a fun morning!
Stephanie and Dan’s wedding day was a rainy one in Chicago, but you better bet that didn’t stop us or dampen spirits! We made some pivots to our plans. So, after Stephanie and Dan tied the knot at Assumption Church, we made our way to the Civic Opera… AKA wedding photography central! I’m so thankful for trusting clients (looking at you Stephanie & Dan). They trusted the process from start to finish and were willing to wait for good things… Like popular rainy wedding day photo spots. I think the photos totally speak for themselves!
After photos at the busy Civic Opera wrapped, we ran over to the Wrigley Building during a break in the rain (hallelujah!). I loved hopping off the trolley with just Stephanie, Dan, and our little photo/video team to capture some just married moments. Then, it was off to the reception venue – City Hall Events!
This was our first wedding at City Hall Events, and it did not disappoint! I know exactly why Stephanie and Dan fell in love with the venue from the modern and art deco touches to gold accents and exposed brick… The space is a dream! Plus, you know I fell in love with the flower wall, too! We loved documenting Stephanie and Dan’s modern & classic wedding vibe with tons of white flowers & greenery, touches of blue, and gold accents in the space. All the details came together beautifully!
As we got deeper into the evening, we loved seeing Stephanie and Dan let loose with their loved ones and celebrate. After all, this special day has been over two years in the making! The dance floor was packed all night long thanks to BeatMix Chicago, and we love to see that!
All in all, Stephanie and Dan’s wedding day was the best day for these two! Despite the rain, these two shared an incredible, romantic, and emotional day with their loved ones and got to celebrate all night long. And anyway, don’t they say rain is good luck on your wedding day?!
Stephanie & Dan – Thank you for trusting us to document your amazing wedding day! We are overjoyed that you guys have officially joined the married club & loved celebrating you!!
