A beautiful wedding day at The Seelbach is making its way to the blog! I’m thrilled to share more about Annie and Virgil’s wedding day today!
If you’ve been around here for very long, then you probably know that my husband is a production brewer at Brickstone Brewery during the week and a wedding photographer & videographer alongside me by the weekend. The brewery family is wonderful and connected us to Annie and Virgil – we’re forever thankful for that!
You also probably remember Annie and Virgil from their unique engagement session at the Goose Island Barrel House (so fun!) last fall. Those photos set the scene for their wedding day at The Seelbach in Louisville over Memorial Day weekend this year!
The Love Story
Annie and Virgil’s story goes back a few years to when Annie moved home from NYC. While she was looking for apartments in Chicago, she stayed with her parents in Bourbonnais… Making for a beautiful love story, Virgil lives next door to Annie’s parents, and they hit it off pretty quickly. Two years ago, Virgil proposed to Annie at home on a quiet evening after a walk through the neighborhood together. So sweet!
The Wedding Day
Annie and Virgil’s wedding day was unique for a few reasons!
First off, we traveled to Louisville for their wedding and spent a few extra days in the area just for fun. Second, their wedding day was a mini destination wedding for most guests coming from Chicagoland and throughout the states. Third, their wedding day featured bourbon themes – only fitting since it took place in bourbon country!
The day started with getting ready at the Louisville Marriott Downtown before everyone made their way to The Seelbach for the ceremony. Annie envisioned a ceremony space filled with candlelight and it came to life. After the ceremony and family photos, we explored The Seelbach for some photos of the newlyweds. That staircase – heart eyes!
As the evening continued, Annie and Virgil shared a reception celebration where the dance floor was packed all night long! Kyle and I loved documenting the happy couple dancing and celebrating with loved ones.
From the beginning, Annie and Virgil’s wedding vision has been all about the dark and moody vibes from a classic color palette with black and white and a candlelit reception to a showstopping black lace veil (Vera Wang and SO GOOD!) and reception in the Rathskeller room at The Seelbach. I have to say that they executed that vision perfectly! Plus, we loved the special touch of mini bourbon bottles that they gifted each wedding guest… Once again, so unique & perfectly fitting! We love to see it!
Annie & Virgil – Congratulations again!! We loved being a part of your wedding day in Louisville and wish you many beautiful years of marriage ahead! XOXO
