I’ve known Jodi through a mutual friend for a few years and I was thrilled when she asked me to photograph her family this fall!

We have been planning this session for a few months (since mid-summer), so we were so incredibly happy that we had a 70+ degree October day to work with. You see, nearly 95% of my sessions are natural light, so I depend on nice weather… I can always work with it because we never know just what the whether is going to do (especially in Illinois)! I will shoot indoors on some occasions as they require.

Since I do not have a studio, if I shoot indoors, I absolutely love a ton of gorgeous natural light. There is just something so beautiful yet challenging about working with natural light. Newborn sessions with me most oftentimes take place in your home along with a few family sessions a year. I do love a beautiful front porch for family photos, too!

Jodi really wanted fall colors in her family photographs. This time of year is one of my favorites especially because I get to see how much joy the changing season brings to my clients and people around me. It truly is a beautiful gift from God and I couldn’t imagine living somewhere that we didn’t get to experience all four seasons, even though it can make us crazy at times!
