Last week, I started the blog series titled “You’re Engaged… Now what’s next?”. I enjoyed writing about the very first thing you should do when you become engaged… Telling your family and friends!
This week, we are focusing on the next step – setting a date!
Believe me, setting a date can be a stressful yet very exciting time. I work with couples daily, and they often tell me that it is one of the more stressful and time-consuming parts of wedding planning. Do you know why? Because once a date is set, all of the other details can start to fall into place… It’s a big decision!
So, where do you start? First and foremost, I would suggest that you and your fiancé discuss which season you would like to be married in or if there is a date that is important to the two of you that would be a fitting wedding date. Then, I would recommend that you start exploring venues! I think this is a great starting point because oftentimes in order to “set a date” you must have a venue with that date open and secure it!
On the other side of things, sometimes a couple 100% knows that they want a specific photographer or DJ to be one of their wedding vendors, so they start there and secure a date based on that specific vendor’s availability. Then, they move on to find a venue with their date available!
No matter what, enjoy the process! Setting a date can be stressful, but everything will align and come together. And better yet, the planning has truly begun at this point!
