Last week, after realizing that Valentine’s Day would be here so soon, I had the idea to blog Valentine’s Day date ideas with the help of my husband, Kyle. This year will be our 8th, yes I can’t believe it, Valentine’s Day together, so why not get creative and have a little fun!

On a side note… When I first mentioned him helping me with this blog post, he said, “Tell them to get a puppy for Valentine’s Day… It brings them together!” Well Kyle, yes our pup Georgie brought us even closer together, but that’s kind of a big Valentine’s Day gift, don’t you think?! He always keeps my on my toes!

After we sat down and seriously brainstormed, we came up with our top three Valentine’s Day date ideas for couples that are dating, engaged, and married! *As a disclaimer, our ideas focus on spending time together rather than offering gift ideas!

#1 – Try a new recipe together!

The two of us love food and trying new recipes, so why not spend time in the kitchen!

At my bridal shower before our wedding, ladies shared their favorite recipes with me to fill a new recipe box. I loved this idea and we still have all of the recipes, so Kyle and I would love to incorporate one of these recipes into our Valentine’s Day menu whether it be this year or another year!

We love to cook dinner together and bake yummy treats, so consider doing just this with your love! Maybe your family or friends have a favorite recipe that they could share with you, too!

You see, I love any excuse for extra time with my hubby (and let’s be real… I love eating yummy foods). Just remember, a night in trying a new recipe doesn’t have to happen only on Valentine’s Day. And, this also goes to show that Valentine’s Day “celebrations” do not have to be extravagant and expensive!

#2 – Go wine tasting!

Kyle and I always say that we want to go to a winery or go wine tasting. Valentine’s Day is a perfect time to do just this!

Sit back, relax, and enjoy one another’s company while sipping on wine… It can’t get much better than this! Going to a winery is definitely on our “to do” list this year.

There are so many little wineries throughout Illinois, and I can’t imagine that it would be difficult to find one in another area, too! It’s always fun to try something new, even though I am a lover of sweet wines. Yes, I know I should branch out, but sweet wines are my jam!

#3 – Enjoy dinner out and a movie night in!

Is there a restaurant you and your significant other have been wanting to try? Go out, try it! Kyle and I firmly believe that Valentine’s Day should not be the only time throughout the year that you date your _______ [boyfriend/girlfriend, fiancee, spouse], but it is an extra reason to enjoy time together!

So, enjoy dinner out at a new restaurant. After dinner, come home to relax and snuggle in for a movie and popcorn on the couch or even play a card or board game.

Kyle and I, well mostly myself, have recently reignited our love for the card game “War”. I remember playing it as a little girl with my best friend what seems like all of the time. A few weeks ago, I got out the deck of cards, and we played 5 games in a row while we talked, laughed, and enjoyed each other’s company.

Now, we know this may seem cheesy, but we love spending quality time at home, just the two of us and our pup Georgie. But, as you can see, a night at home does not have to be boring!

We hope you enjoyed reading our ideas and maybe they will inspire your Valentine’s Day and other dates throughout this year, too! All of these ideas are on our date list even if they don’t happen on this Valentine’s Day. No matter what, we hope you enjoy your time together, celebrate your love, and unplug from technology to focus on one another!
