I love May! It’s the time when color comes back to our world throughout Chicagoland, flowers are blooming, and the sweet sunshine brings happiness all around. To kick off the month of May’s engagement sessions, I loved spending time with Layne and Ricky for their urban engagement session in downtown Arlington Heights!
At the start of this year, I met Layne and Ricky thanks to one of my sweetest brides, Sarah. Layne and Sarah are teachers at the same school, and I am very thankful for both of these ladies! It’s true when I say I love meeting brides through my very own brides… The best!
Layne and Ricky’s love story goes back to college where they met. They were both working in the dining center in their dorm rooms and had mutual friends. These two love time spent hiking outdoors with their dog, Henry. So when it came to the proposal, it’s no surprise that these two were at Starved Rock doing something they love – enjoying a weekend hiking adventure with Henry. While they were hiking, Ricky proposed to Layne under a waterfall. And he even had a photographer ready to document the exciting moment. So, so sweet! Fast forward to today… These two have been together for seven years, own a home together, and have the sweetest pup!
Over the past few months, I’ve enjoyed getting to know these two a little better as we’ve been planning their urban engagement session in downtown Arlington Heights! They love sports, so of course we started the photos off with a little baseball rivalry before changing outfits. Most of all, it’s fun to incorporate locations that are meaningful to my couples into their sessions. Layne and Ricky used to call Arlington Heights their home, so it was sweet to photograph these two in place that is part of their story.
Throughout their session, we were in love with the beautiful May weather, the blooms throughout the downtown area, and the various textures and locations we found for photos. These two are incredibly kind, quirky, and so absolutely in love!
Excited for their wedding day next summer!
