Yay! Alessandra and Jake’s burgundy and blush wedding day in Springfield is on the blog today!
Kyle and I know Alessandra and Jake from our time at Illinois College – see their IC engagement photos here! We’ve been looking forward to their wedding day for the last year and a half (even despite a few coronavirus changes), and it was so good to see some familiar Illinois College faces at their wedding. I’m excited to share more about these two and their happy day!
From The Bride
Jacob and I met at Illinois College through literary society events (he was in Phi Alpha and me Gamma Delta) we started dating the fall of 2013. We realized each other was “the one” probably after that summer break apart. We came back to IC Fall 2014 and were inseparable! While he finished his senior year, we spent one year long-distance, and I went to grad school in Chicago. We lived a year in Chicago together then moved to Florida in August 2017. He proposed to me on the beach on Christmas Day-our first Holiday alone with no family and also my favorite holiday! We got our fur baby Stella in October 2018. We love cooking, going to the beach, working out, walking Stella, and doing just about anything and everything together!
The Wedding Day
This wedding day started at the President Abraham Lincoln Hotel in downtown Springfield. The weather was gorgeous, and we knew it was bound to be a good day ahead! We arrived at Alessandra’s suite where hair and makeup (shoutout to the amazing, Lindsey, that we always love working with!) were wrapping up. I loved photographing Alessandra’s details during this time and saying hello to familiar faces from Illinois College in the wedding party. As Alessandra’s wedding party finished getting ready, Kyle joined Jake and his wedding party.
Once Alessandra and her wedding party were ready to go, we met at the Old State Capitol in downtown Springfield for photos. And after flip flopping to keep Alessandra and Jake from seeing each other, we met Jake and his wedding party at the same location next. Then, it was ceremony time!
Alessandra and Jake shared a short and sentimental ceremony at the Southwind Park Treehouse. They both shed happy tears as they saw each other and shared the sweetest excitement as they made things official! I loved to document that their good friend from Illinois College, Renata, officiated the wedding, too.
As the afternoon rolled into the evening, we traveled to Mariah’s Restaurant for their dinner reception. At the end of the day, it was a joyous day for this couple and their closest loved ones. And we just loved sneaking these two out for a few minutes of sunset photos. Goodness, this sunset reminded me why I love glowy September sunsets!
