Save the dates have become very popular in the last several years… And for good reason! These unique pieces of mail send a little extra happy to all of your loved ones six to eight months out from the wedding!
I have to say, I love receiving save the dates in the mail (whether it’s from one of my wedding photography couples or a friend or family member). They truly warm my heart! Save the dates are also a nice way to give your guests a glimpse into the style and color scheme of your wedding day.
Couples often ask me this question… “When should we have our engagement session? We want to send save the dates!”
My response? I’ve always read that save the dates should be sent out 6-8 months in advance, but do what works for you! I always recommend that engagement sessions take place when you want – whether that’s 6 months, 12 months, or 18 months out from your wedding date. The season you desire for your engagement session may determine this, too!
It’s also okay if you have your engagement photos in plenty of time before you even need to start thinking about sending save the dates. Everything will fall into place and the timing will align to send your save the dates!
So, did you send or are you planning on sending save the dates?
