Julie and Paul’s wedding day… Take two! Last October, we celebrated Julie and Paul’s intimate wedding day. This October, we celebrated their love again surrounded by their family and friends at the Kimpton Gray. We truly adore this couple!
From the Couple
My aunt introduced us 7 years ago… I knew he was the one the first time we met. It didn’t feel like people meeting for the first time… Everything was effortless and easy flowing.
Fast forward to when he proposed, and I ruined everything! I did not want to come over to his house (where he asked me) – I did not feel good. So the first thing I did was take a shower and put on sweatpants, an old t-shirt, and had wet hair. I sat on his couch waiting for him to come and watch a movie and started picking my nail polish – ooops! He told me to stop, and I didn’t see the problem! I told him that I would get my nails done the following day, and it was no big deal.
Immediately after I said that his face got red and he started to get tears in his eyes… I started to laugh because I did not think that there was any way he would possibly ask me to marry him in the state I was in! Sure enough, he got down on one knee and asked and it was the best most genuine proposal I could have imagined.
We love to travel (when it’s allowed of course), being with family is HUGE for us, and we also love to be on or near water. Something about a body of water that is just relaxing! Recently, we love spending time with our dog Nelly!
The Wedding Day
Gosh, this wedding day was a dream! First off, it was the PERFECT fall day in Chicago. Julie and Paul were ready for the day ahead with their loved ones and looking forward to celebrating their love. We were thankful to be by their side documenting their second celebration with both photo & video!
As the morning moved into the afternoon, we loved spending time with Julie, Paul, and their wedding parties. Julie and Paul opted not to see each other before their “express ceremony” where they shared personal vows and renewed their marriage commitments to one another. It was beautiful and perfect for these two!
After the ceremony, we set out along Monroe and LaSalle for wedding party and couples photos. It was fun being back in some of the same locations as last year for this year’s wedding photos. What a fun sentiment and memory for Julie and Paul!
Once the sun was down, it was time to celebrate! Throughout the day and especially at the reception, I found myself teary-eyed behind my camera more times than one with a grateful, touched heart. I kept thinking to myself – we are surrounded by such good people today… It was a true honor to document Julie and Paul’s wedding day last year and an even greater honor to document their celebration with loved ones this year!
It’s been a whirlwind of a year for Julie and Paul with many highs and lows, but their loved ones and this couple made it to this beautiful day to celebrate. It’s incredible to see the connection that Julie and Paul share with one another and how adored they are by their family and friends. An entire room lights up when they see these two – their joy rubs off on everyone around them. Our hearts are grateful for this couple!
Julie & Paul – Where to begin?! We adore that you two are clients turned friends and are forever thankful that your wedding day brought the two of you into our life. Cheers to many married years!
