Catherine and Garrett’s fall wedding day brought us to St. Louis! We loved their Anheuser-Busch and Clayton Plaza Hotel wedding celebration – it was perfect for this amazing couple! You could truly feel the love between these two and for these two ALL DAY LONG, and we loved that!
From the Couple
We met at Illinois College in 2014 through our sibling literary societies. Our story didn’t start until a couple of years later when we moved into a house together with a few friends. It wasn’t long before we realized we were perfect for each other. About eight months later and after a couple of glasses of wine, we starting chatting about life. Garrett and I discussed everything from our long-term goals to our favorite animals. We found out that we both wanted to move to a bigger city, we loved dogs, and wanted to travel.
A couple weeks later, we were dating! We went on our first date to Monical’s in Springfield, IL where Garrett bought me a heart-shaped pizza. Luckily, pizza is both of our favorite food!
In May 2018, we moved to St. Louis with our pupper, Daisy. That June we adopted our second pup, Cooper. Well… I adopted Cooper while Garrett was out of town and pretended it was a birthday present. It’s a good thing Garrett knew what he was getting into when he started dating me! Throughout the next year and a half, we grew together.
Fast forward to July 28th in 2019, Garrett dragged me out of bed for an early morning hike. Little did I know, he planned to ask me to marry him. Obviously, I said YES! I might have almost tackled him off the rock from which he proposed… Whoops! A week later, we celebrated the start of a new chapter with a trip to Gatlinburg, TN. Garrett and I got to enjoy some good moonshine, hike some difficult trails, and enjoyed a mountain view cabin where we saw our first bear in the wild! We bought a house and started planning the rest of our lives together. The rest is history!
The Wedding Day
Catherine and Garrett’s wedding started like many with getting ready at the hotel. We were thrilled that hair and makeup were ahead of schedule (a big win on a wedding day!), and everyone was excited for the day ahead. As soon as we arrived, Catherine hugged and greeted us – and so did Garrett once we met up with him – and we were quickly reminded of the kindness and compassion they have in their hearts. These two love big, and all of their loved ones can back me up on that one!
This wedding was an especially fun one for us because we saw many familiar faces from Illinois College throughout the day. So fun!
Once the finishing touches were done and getting ready wrapped up, it was first look time. Catherine and Garrett were giddy to see each other, and I’ll never forget their smiles and excited emotions during their first look. The photos of this moment capture their personalities perfectly.
After the first look, we hung around the Clayton Plaza Hotel for wedding party photos before we traveled to the ceremony venue. This wedding day had a super fun and unique ceremony venue… Anheuser-Busch! As guests arrived, they were greeted with a welcoming atmosphere and offered tours after the ceremony. We definitely loved this venue because it gave the guests something fun to do before the evening cocktail hour began!
Catherine and Garrett shared one of the most personalized ceremonies Kyle and I have ever photographed. Even behind my camera, I laughed, cried, and felt more deeply connected to this couple as their photographer turned friend. This couple is the real deal, and gosh, we’re all lucky to have them in our lives!
After the ceremony, we stopped by Tower Grove Park for a few more wedding party and newlywed photos. Then, it was time to celebrate! Catherine and Garrett were smiling, laughing, and enjoying themselves while surrounded by their most favorite people all night long. What a joy to photograph those memories!
Catherine & Garrett – We adore you two and your love for one another! We hope you’ll always remember how happy you were on your wedding day and promise that married life keeps getting better!
