Wedding season #5 is officially a wrap! And what a year has it been!
This year, I shared wedding season with twenty-eight amazing couples… It has been a great honor to spend these wedding days with each and every couple, and I am feeling very thankful at the end of this season! Throughout the year, I kept “stat sheets” (as I like to call them) for each wedding – just for fun – for the first time ever. I documented wedding styles + colors, dress styles and lengths, food served at reception dinners, ceremony exits, traditions, first dance songs, funny and happy moments, unique details, and more!
And let me tell you, looking back on all of these “stats” for the year has been so so fun! Overall, I saw a TON of long bridesmaids dresses as the main style this year along with lots of lace within wedding gowns. Most of my brides wore some sort of veil or hairpiece, too! All of my grooms varied between long ties and bow ties, but long ties did win the overall majority for the year (sorry to Kyle, my bow tie loving hubby!). And greenery, yes greenery, was everywhere this year – I LOVE – in flowers, centerpieces, hairpieces, and decor!
Some moments that make me smile with great joy when I think back on them from this wedding season are… Seeing THREE puppies walk down the aisle to their human parents at THREE different weddings this year (yep, these are totally my people!), a sweet Flower Gramps this spring, lots of yummy cake + donuts too, a couple sharing communion during their wedding ceremony, a bride’s brothers helping her start her walk down the aisle to meet her dad and then groom, newlywed photos with a couple’s dog, two brides recreating their own mothers’ wedding gowns, a letter from a bride’s deployed brother shared on her wedding day, a choreographed first dance, a sunset sparkler exit, all of the first look reactions throughout the year, breakfast for reception dinner, a birthday wedding day, unity tree planting, a warming of the rings tradition, and MORE! I could probably write a book and fill it with so many more of these moments and experiences and joys!
All in all, the 2017 wedding season was a true blessing. And these people my friends, are why I do what I do. Can’t wait to see what the 2018 season has in store!
