Today I’m happy to share my second to last wedding of 2017 with you on the blog!

I’m guessing you remember Jaye and Scott from their engagement session earlier this year and that photo experience did not disappoint with these two! Throughout the past year or so, I have loved getting to know these two while working with them to plan photography details of their wedding day. And I always love when some of my favorites (Deidre and Haley) are the reason I even connected with Jaye in the first place. One of my favorite parts of my job is the bond that brides and I develop throughout this planning process… And for those that know Jaye, you would agree that this gal is a planner – I LOVE that about her! It was always refreshing to see how excited and prepared Jaye was for her wedding day and all of the little details in between. Plus, all of the extra effort and planning behind the scenes makes for a stress free wedding day every time… I promise! (And I think Jaye would agree, too!)

Jaye and Scott have known each other for what seems like forever – growing up in the same small town and attending the same school – but it wasn’t until later after school and college and jobs that these two met up again and started dating. On that very first weekend they spent together at Gilman Old Boys and Girls Reunion, Scott told Jaye with his arm around her shoulder, “I’m going to marry you.” These two told me that from that moment on, this relationship was unlike any other these two had had in the past, and they knew they were meant to be together as their relationship grew. At the start of their relationship, Jaye was working and living in Chicago, but these two were still inseparable and spent as much time together as possible even with the commute back and forth.

After Scott proposed at Christmastime last year, these two had such an exciting year ahead for them between the wedding, Jaye moving back to Gilman, buying a house, and all the day-to-day fun in between. These two told me that they thank God everyday for bringing them together and for giving them the opportunity to truly enjoy these big exciting moments in their life together. What an exciting time in life for these two!

From the start, I have loved Jaye and Scott’s vision for their winter wedding day… Think black, silver, white, mercury glass, rustic touches, and tons of greenery (shoutout to Flowers by Kristine – the florals were amazing). I know, I know, it was gorgeous! And I loved the way everything felt so timelessly fitting with the winter season.

Leading up to their wedding day, Jaye told me that she would LOVE a dusting of snow on their wedding day, and you know what? There in fact was a dusting of snow on the morning of their wedding day – can it get any better than that? I loved waking up to the little bit of snow, and you can even catch a little bit of the snow in the detail photos from the day before it was all gone! As the morning carried on, the ladies (and guys) were enjoying their time together (bridesmaids, groomsmen, nieces + nephews, friends, and parents — the whole crew!), but these two were eager to see one another and officially spend their wedding day together. As soon as Jaye and Scott shared their first look at the church, I could see their nerves start to diminish and how they relaxed into the day.

After sharing a beautiful afternoon winter wedding ceremony surrounded by their closest loved ones, we moved through some more family and bridal party photos before sunset photos with the couple. Let me tell you… The light was TO DIE FOR. And these photos took place in a sentimental place – at Jaye’s childhood home. I am still swooning over the emotion and love and joy that truly are Jaye and Scott within these photos.

Soon enough, it was time for Jaye and Scott to celebrate and dance the night away with their family and friends. All of their decor and greenery and every little detail at the reception was perfect, truly perfect. I especially loved their DIY kissing booth and hot cocoa bar… What could say “winter wedding” more?! Love, love, love!

Jaye + Scott… Thank you for sharing your wedding day with me! While we would have loved more snow with those freezing temps, it was a truly beautiful day. Your happiness radiates through these photos – hugs!
