Wow, this wedding day was one for the books! We’re so thankful Jori and Matt shared their modern romantic wedding at the Biltwell in Indianapolis with us!
Over the last year and a half, I’ve gotten to know Jori and Matt better after Jori was the maid of honor at Brittany and John’s wedding day. Just a few months after that very wedding day, Jori’s name popped up in my inbox with exciting news – she was ENGAGED! I’ve adored Jori from the start and knew it would be an honor to be their wedding photographer. Forever thankful for that wedding day and an amazing couple last year so she could see us working our magic!
Fast forward a bit to the end of 2019 when Jori and Matt’s engagement session was my last session of the year. And now this year, their summer wedding day was one of my first few back shooting admist the pandemic. We’ll be forever thankful that Jori and Matt’s wedding day got to go on as planned without too many pivots. These two are a breath of fresh air, fun, and such kind people! These happy moments were perfectly timed in seasons of life and business. I’m a believer in greater timing, and I truly think these good things timed out exactly like they were supposed to!
I’m so excited to tell you more about these two and their romantic wedding day at the Biltwell!
FROM THE BRIDE
Matt and I met 4 years ago almost to date after connecting on Bumble. We say we found each other right when we were meant to from day one. We both always knew this was our forever love story. Nothing ever seemed forced or rushed, everything just fell into place. I felt at home with Matt and felt nothing but unconditional love. We moved in together 6 months later, and included one of Matt’s best friends! No one saw us fall in love with each other quite like Ross did! We have always loved cooking together, sunsets on golf courses, surrounding ourselves with our best friends, and most of all, being in our home as a family with our fur baby, Colbie!
Matt took me to my favorite place on earth – the lake house – to propose last year. He arranged for a relaxing weekend up there, and then a Ray LaMontagne concert back downtown Sunday night. Little did I know, we were hardly in the door at the lake house before I felt Matt’s beating harder than normal. Then he was down on one knee telling me I have always been the one and asking me to marry him. Easiest yes in my life! We enjoyed the rest of the weekend just the two of us on the water, and then had a blast listening to Ray as we celebrated the happiest weekend of our lives!
THE WEDDING DAY
This wedding day started out on the best note ever… The chance of rain completely left the forecast! If that’s not the best way to start off a wedding day, I don’t know what is! Kyle and I arrived at the Conrad in Indianapolis on the morning of Jori and Matt’s wedding day as everyone was getting ready and eagerly awaiting the festivities ahead. Jori and Matt were all smiles (and in tears reading each others’ letters!) as they got ready with their wedding parties. And gosh, those getting ready spaces were perfect to frame the details of their wedding day!
Once everyone was ready, we met at the Eiteljorg in Indianapolis for Jori and Matt’s intimate first look. They both had tears in their eyes before they even saw each other, and it was an honor to document those very first embraces on their wedding day. I still feel all the emotions of that moment flooding back when I look back on these photos. If you can’t tell, we kinda love and adore this couple!
Then at 1pm, the ceremony began! Jori and Matt shared a Catholic mass ceremony at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in downtown Indy. What a beautiful church! After the ceremony, the newlyweds and their wedding party started celebrating between photo locations. We started wedding party photos at Fountain Square and then moved to Garfield Park. We had a blast with this crew! Everyone enjoyed photos even despite the 95+ degree day and hot sun. We couldn’t have asked for a better wedding party!
Once photos wrapped up, we traveled to the Biltwell Event Center in Indianapolis for the evening celebration. You guys, this venue is a DREAM! The natural light, brick, tall ceilings, and industrial space paired perfectly with Jori and Matt’s wedding style. I loved documenting details that evening from the flowers with touches of purple to the timeless black and white color palette with touches of acrylic, glass, and palms. Oh, and they even had the cutest black and white checkered dance floor! The space at the Biltwell truly came alive with all the gorgeous details! Big thanks to Hannah and Design the Day Events who was wonderful to work with throughout the day and evening. She made sure every detail came together perfectly!
As the night went on, Jori and Matt literally made the room light up with joy. They truly lived in every single moment of their wedding day and had fun with their family and friends throughout the day and night. If you know these two, you know exactly what I’m talking about. It’s impossible not to have their sheer joy and happiness rub off on you! I mean, just look at those rooftop sunset photos at the Biltwell… Their JOY is literally radiating! We’re incredibly thankful these two are in our life.
