Oh my goodness, Taylor and Karl’s Ruffled Feathers Golf Club wedding day was one for the books! We adore this couple and are so excited to share more about this couple and their wedding day on the blog!
From the Bride
Karl and I have been together for over 11 years, yes, high school sweethearts! We grew up in Tinley Park and attended Andrew High School. We then were very fortunate to hold a long-distance relationship throughout college as Karl attended the University of Utah while I was at Illinois State University. After Karl decided to take a 5th year, he then decided to pursue his Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy. Taylor joined the marketing workforce rather quickly at an Internet marketing agency. Once Karl graduated from OT school in May 2019, it was off to the homeowner races.
In June 2019, we purchased a beautiful townhome in Frankfort, IL. On July 6th, 2019, Karl purposed to me in our new backyard. He decorated the gazebo with pictures of our relationship starting back in 2008, rose petals, signage… The whole nine yards! I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect opening to our ‘new’ life together.
We both have a passion for sports, either watching or participating. Baseball, softball, football, volleyball… You name it, we have played it. We also have a love for any show on Bravo, which we enjoy watching together. Our favorite things to do over the weekends are host family and friends, visit our local farmer’s market as well as attend our personal fitness classes. The weekdays can be a cluster, so it’s nice just to enjoy each other’s company whatever that may be.
The Wedding Day
The day started with Taylor getting ready at her childhood home while Karl got ready at Taylor and Karl’s home. I loved the sentiment of their getting ready locations from the start! We were blessed with mid-80 degree temperatures, sunshine, and clouds on this day and knew it was going to be a great day!
My husband, Kyle, was alongside me shooting video and our friend, Joe, was our second shooter for this day. What a fun team to spend the day with!
As getting ready was wrapping up, we loved seeing Taylor share a first look with her dad followed by the sweetest gift exchange with her parents. I’d be lying if I said there weren’t tears in my eyes behind my camera throughout these moments! Then, before we knew it, it was time to travel to the first look to really kick off this wedding day!
Taylor and Karl chose to share a first look at their high school football field. Since these two are high school sweethearts (my heart!), it was only fitting that they shared a first look back where everything started… At their high school! And friends, this is probably one of my favorite first looks over the years. Taylor and Karl were so genuinely excited to see one another and share in this sentimental and sweet moment. I loved documenting it!
After the first look, we traveled to the Orland Grasslands for a few wedding party photos and then settled in at the church before the ceremony. Taylor and Karl shared a beautiful Catholic wedding ceremony in Taylor’s family church. We especially loved their unity candle moment.
Once these two were MARRIED, we traveled to their reception venue, Ruffled Feathers Golf Club, for even more fun. What a perfect reception spot for a golf lover like Karl, too! We loved spending a little more time with their wedding party before sneaking Taylor and Karl away (on golf carts, of course!) for a few newlywed photos… These two are just a blast to be around and wildly in love. I love that they are so trusting of us, too, because it makes our job even more fun!
By the time the reception began, the energy throughout Taylor, Karl, and their loved ones and friends was high and so contagious! Everyone was ready to celebrate, and the dance floor was packed all night long!
At the end of this day, one of my favorite memories was the joy the radiated off of this couple throughout the entire day. Not kidding! It’s a true joy to witness and document a couple so in love with one another and how they love their most favorite people so well, especially on their wedding day.
