Just last week Kyle and I were chatting and agreed that… Our winter season has been a little more full than we even realize! We always enjoy a winter break from wedding season, but this winter season we definitely filled most of our free moments with family and friends.
The start of March brought a day out and about with my sister and niece, a day home with a clean house, cold weather, absolutely nothing to do (my favorite!), and a corned beef and cabbage dinner. Kyle couldn’t believe it was my very first time eating corned beef and cabbage!
Then the first full week of March brought not one, but TWO, freezing cold engagement sessions… March weather is always hit or miss, but you truly would have thought we were having a session at the start of January, not March!
As we rolled into the second weekend of the month, I made the trip to Springfield with Kyle for his very last drill weekend in the Illinois Air National Guard and got to spend some time with my friend, Kate. It was a great weekend to close out this chapter in the military. And Kyle enjoyed his very favorite pony shoe in Springfield, too!
The middle of the month brought a TON of one-on-one mentoring sessions with creative entrepreneurs, and I loved them so! The local creative community in Kankakee County and beyond is incredible. It’s so encouraging. The third week of the month brought a visitor to our house… My college roommate, Alexis! I loved getting to spend a few days with her over her spring break from dental school. From walks with Georgie to hot yoga to a coffee date to introducing her to our local pals, those three days were so good for the two of us. Plus it’s amazing to me how each and every time we are together, you wouldn’t have a clue that we live 4+ hours apart.
Over the fourth weekend of the month, I spent three days with my photog besties, Kate and Lauren, in Louisville for a photography conference. If you ask me, I will tell you time and time again that my very favorite part of the weekend away was spending it with my photog besties in the industry.
And as March 25th rolled around, it marked Kyle’s last day in the military. It’s still surreal to us that this chapter has come to a close. It’s what we’ve known for 7 years of our 10.5 year relationship… But we are excited for what’s ahead. I am so incredibly proud of him! And of course we celebrated him with a party surrounded by our closest family, friends, craft beer, and good food!
The last day of the month was another one of my favorites… We started the morning slow + made a big family breakfast for ourselves along with Kyle’s brother’s little family. And then the day brought afternoon naps on the couch, small group, and more evening snuggles with Georgie girl. Sometimes you just need those types of days!
Now we’re saying happy April, friends!
