Engagement season means that so many “congratulations” and well wishes are going around to newly engaged couples. I love this season where you can simply FEEL the love all around – it’s contagious and so beautiful!

Today, I’m excited to share a look at five things that no one tells you about getting engaged. Let’s jump in!

1. First, you can’t stop staring at your hand! It’s true… You’ll never be the same after the proposal, the anticipation of your marriage, and of course, the engagement ring on your hand. This symbol of love and forever is ON YOUR HAND. And it’s real, you’re getting MARRIED!
2. You won’t believe how many times you retell your proposal story! In all of the excitement, everyone is going to ask you how your fiancé proposed! Expect and ENJOY this. Retelling your proposal story is part of the excitement and fun of being engaged! You’ll be able to tell the story in your sleep before long!
3. Everyone will ask what your wedding date is! I know, you may feel overwhelmed when loved ones and friends ask what your wedding date is right away, but they love you and they’re sharing in your excitement! It’s helpful to share a statement like – “We’re celebrating our engagement now and will start planning soon!” or “We’re thinking next summer!”
4. Your wedding inspiration will run wild! Maybe you’ve been dreaming of your wedding day since you were a child or maybe you’re just starting to envision what your wedding day will look like… Either way, your mind will run wild with wedding inspiration and ideas! From thinking about venues to attire to colors to flowers to music to food and drinks – you have endless options! Write down your ideas (hey, the notes app on your phone is a game changer here!) as they come to you so that you can revisit them later.
5. It’s okay to not have all the answers! With all hustle and bustle around the engagement and wedding plans, always know that your loved ones care deeply about you and your fiancé – that’s exactly why they are so excited and full of questions and curiosity about what’s to come! But by that same token, it’s OKAY to not have all the answers right away. Take time to truly enjoy your engagement whether that means setting a date and making plans right away or soaking in the excitement for however long you’d like. There are no rules!

And there you have it – five things no one tells you about getting engaged! Most importantly, I don’t think we tell newly engaged couples to enjoy these fleeting moments enough. Time flies by so quickly, so take time to relax and truly experience the JOY of this time in your life because you’ll never get it back!
