Another fall Chicago engagement session is hitting the blog today!
Meet Jessica and Tommy! Jess and I grew up in neighboring towns and have always known of each other – if you’re from a small town, too, then you’ll totally understand that! Back in summer 2019, Jess was a guest at Courtney and Todd’s wedding and saw me in action photographing the day. Now fast forward to earlier this year when Jess and Tommy got engaged and her name popped up in my inbox! It’s a joy to be their wedding photographer.
These two met at Illinois Wesleyan University. It’s a small college, and they were both involved in Greek life. Jess was the president of her sorority and Tommy was vice president on the Greek life board. They were also both accounting majors and had similar classes, so they kept seeing each other! Once they realized they had a lot in common, they eventually ended up together! Earlier this year, Tommy surprised Jess with a proposal during busy season. I love that they had something to celebrate amidst the long, busy days accounting brings in the winter and spring! I think all of those coincidences and running into each other in the early days of their relationship were fate.
Over the past few months, we’ve been planning their fall engagement photos. Jess and Tommy call Chicago home, so it was only fitting for their engagement session to take place in the city! I loved texting back and forth with Jess to plan their engagement session outfits… This is something I have so much with and it helps me get to know our couples and their unique styles better. It’s the best!
On the day of their session, we were thankful for a sunny (yet chilly!) mid-November day. I think we lucked out because it could have been way colder! We met and started the session at Lincoln Park Nature Boardwalk and then moved to North Avenue Beach for skyline shots. This session was the first time Jess and Tommy had ever been professionally photographed… I have to say that they rocked it! Their quirky, smiley personalities totally shine through in these photos.
I loved Jess and Tommy’s Chicago engagement session and am oh so excited for the wedding next year!
