Remember Erin and Matt from their engagement session a couple of months back?! Well, their fall Island Bay Yacht Club wedding day is hitting the blog today!
I’ve known Erin since I can remember as we grew up in the same small town and as family friends. I cannot tell you what an honor it has been to be her photographer during these happy milestones! It’s so good to see this girl so happy!!
From the Bride
Matt and I met at a bar after he had just finished singing karaoke and one of my friend’s husband’s started talking to him about how good of a singer he was. We talked the whole time I was there but didn’t end up exchanging numbers. We reconnected later on and it wasn’t long before we were pretty much inseparable. I met all of his family and he met mine pretty quickly, and we really just connected with each other. We both just wanted the same things in life and were really on the same page about almost everything, and still are to this day. I’d say from very early on, I knew he’d be the one.
He totally caught me off guard with the proposal! We talked about getting married and sized my hand for a ring, but I had no idea how he was going to ask. I didn’t want it to be like a huge deal or to make a big scene. I just wanted it to be a surprise. So one night before we were about to go meet his friends for dinner, he got down on one knee in our living room and asked. I thought he was joking at first, and I didn’t believe him until he actually pulled out the ring.
Matt and I get along pretty well so anything we do, we pretty much do together. Even if it’s just grocery shopping or taking our dog Colt for a walk. We just enjoy each other’s company no matter what we’re doing. We love just getting dressed up and going out for a nice dinner and just relaxing and talking about anything and everything. I feel like we’re both pretty laid back. And while we like to go out and do things, we also just like to hang out at home. I’d say we definitely work well as a team! We’re both always respectful of how we talk to each other, and we always make an effort to make each other happy no matter what.
The Wedding Day
We are so thankful for these two! Erin and Matt’s wedding day at Island Bay Yacht Club included their closest 50 loved ones for an intimate celebration. The day started with a first look at the venue and then we moved into the ceremony, portraits, and celebration!
We were thankful for a 60-something degree day even despite the wind. The fall colors were in full swing this weekend, too! So Kyle and I were extra thankful that Erin, Matt, their wedding party, and their families were up for braving the wind for beautiful portraits. And I think it was definitely worth it!
It was fun to see Erin and Matt’s vision for a fall wedding come to life! Despite venue and date changes they had to make due to coronavirus, these two were full of JOY all day long. They were just so incredibly happy to be surrounded by their loved ones on their wedding day. I think Erin and Matt are a testament to the fact that even when everything around you in your world seems out of control, you get to choose your attitude and how you live each day. These two choose joy and laughing together and loving each other, and I truly know they are meant to be together!
Erin + Matt – Thank you for sharing your intimate wedding day with us! We are thankful for the two of you and wish you many happy married years!
