A couple of weeks ago, I visited my alma mater for an engagement session! That’s right, Catherine and Garrett’s fall Illinois College engagement photos are hitting the blog!
Meet Catherine (also known as Kitty) and Garrett! These two met as students at Illinois College, shared many mutual friends, and later figured out they were perfect for each other. Their personalities complement each other so well. And I can absolutely attest that they are pretty much always smiling and laughing together! They are such relaxed souls and fit so well together.
Last summer, Garrett surprised Catherine with a proposal just a week before their first big trip traveling together. So she had no idea it was coming! They hiked to a scenic point at Weldon Springs with their dogs… Then Catherine turned around while Garrett was getting down on one knee! Of course, she very excitedly said YES! Afterward, they drove home and immediately called every family member to share in their excitement. So, so sweet!
Since last fall when the three of us reconnected as they started their wedding photographer search, I have loved getting to know this couple better. Garrett and I were in the same graduating class at Illinois College and even had a couple of classes together. I’ve just gotta say that it’s so fun when IC peeps come back into our lives because of happy wedding days! Over the past months, we’ve been planning their engagement session, and Illinois College turned out to be the perfect session location. Everything worked out just perfectly!
On the day of their session, we were thankful for the most beautiful, warm early fall day. I love sessions at the end of September because they’re when we start to see the first glimpses of fall in the color of the trees and the light. And this session did not disappoint with those early fall vibes!
We started the session near the iconic Sturtevant building and then wandered around campus together… Stopping by many favorites like the chapel, the seal, and Parker. I just LOVED my time spent with these two as we laughed, talked all things weddings, and gushed over our dogs (they have two pups and we have two pups – I love it!) together. This session makes me even more excited for their wedding day in St. Louis next October!
