Wow, wow, WOW! It’s been a few weeks and we are still over the moon about Jill and Ryan’s wedding amazing day at Loyola University and the Chicago History Museum!
A two-year engagement, one wedding postponement, and a whole lot of love went into this wedding day! Fun story – my relationship with Jill and Ryan goes back a few years… I met this couple four years ago at one of our past couples Shelby and Tim’s wedding day. We hit it off from the start, and I’m forever thankful for BOTH couples!
Buckle up because Jill and Ryan’s wedding day was one for the books. It’s an honor to share more about their story and wedding day on the blog!
From The Couple
We met in May 2012 in college when Jill was having some friends over. We really hit it off that night, but I (Jill) soon went home to Cleveland for my summer break. Ryan and I texted all summer long and when we came back to school in the fall, we were pretty inseparable. We’ve gone through so much growth together and many phases of life, and we’re so glad to finally be getting married!
Ryan proposed after almost 7 years together. After having to postpone and wait an extra year, this day has been nearly 9 years in the making! We make a good match because we both place great value on family. Each of us is a homebody and doesn’t mind staying in on a Friday night together. We can go out and be social with each other’s friends but really together is the best place to be!
Wedding Advice from the Couple
Make sure that you and your fiancé focus on what you want. It is valuable to have input from family and friends, but really this day is yours to plan in a way that you envision. Stick to what you want and make it happen!
The Wedding Day
Gosh, where to begin with this amazing wedding day?!
Jill and Ryan shared the most gorgeous September wedding day in Chicago surrounded by their loved ones, friends, and family. From getting ready at the Drake Hotel and their Loyola University ceremony to lakefront newlywed photos and celebrating all night long at the Chicago History Museum… This day was made for Jill and Ryan!
The day started at the Drake Hotel where everyone was getting ready for the day ahead. As soon as Kyle and I arrived to start photo and video, you could feel the excited energy in the air, and it was contagious. You see, for this couple especially after going through a postponement, the day was highly anticipated and dreamed of… They were ready to celebrate and GET MARRIED!
After getting ready wrapped up and Jill shared the sweetest reveal with her dad, we traveled to Loyola University for photos and the wedding ceremony. Fun fact – Ryan attended Loyola University and along the campus lakefront is where he proposed to Jill – my heart! Campus was as beautiful as ever on this warm, sunny, and breezy September day, and we were thankful. I loved spending some time with Jill and her wedding party and then Ryan and his wedding party for a few photos before the ceremony.
Then, it was time to get these two married! Jill and Ryan shared a Catholic ceremony at Madonna della Strada Chapel on the Loyola University campus. It was gorgeous! I loved documenting Jill’s happy tears and she saw Ryan and embraced him for the first time on their wedding day at the end of the aisle. Their wedding ceremony was such a sweet moment of their wedding day.
Once things were official, it was time for more photos and fun! Jill and Ryan had the best wedding party that was up for anything and all in for photos! It’s a super fun part of my job when the wedding party is all in and ready to have fun throughout the photo process… And I think their photos speak for themselves about how amazing their wedding party was!
As the afternoon faded into the evening, we traveled to the Chicago History Museum where Jill and Ryan would celebrate the night away with their family and friends! Jill shared with us that she went on a class trip to the Chicago History Museum during her freshman year of college. It was before she and Ryan met, but when she saw the ballroom, she dreamed of getting married there someday… When they got engaged, they considered other Chicago venues but told me that none other measured up to the Chicago History Museum. The bright white space, black and white dance floor, plaza steps, and architecture are a dream!
This was our first wedding at the Chicago History Museum, and it did not disappoint. The space, the venue team, and all the little details came together beautifully! I loved seeing and documenting how Jill and Ryan’s elegant and classic wedding style with gray, greenery, and gold came together. It was breathtaking!
And my oh my, their reception celebration at the Chicago History Museum was AMAZING! We’ve never seen such an exciting dance floor and engaged group of guests through dinner, toasts, and dancing… It just goes to show how loved Jill and Ryan are and how excited everyone was to celebrate this couple!
Jill & Ryan – Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing your wedding day with us! We’re forever thankful for Shelby and Tim, your dear friends, that connected all of us. We’ve loved cheering you on over these last two years and will most definitely continue cheering you on in marriage!
