Wow, happy 2019!
The month of December FLEW BY, as usual! The first of the month brought a trip to the city to take our niece Sofia to The Walnut Room and to see Santa at Macy’s… She LOVED it! To see the joy of Christmastime in her eyes is something I will never forget. And then we rounded out the weekend with a historical holiday housewalk in Kankakee with some dear friends! It was starting to feel like Christmas!
Then, the first full week of December brought not one, not two, but THREE mentoring sessions with local creatives. Since launching my mentoring offering last spring, I have been filled with joy to work with so many other creatives and for the opportunity to encourage them in their growing businesses. I love all my mentoring peeps!
I loved serving with our small group for Sleep in Heavenly Peace, a national organization with the mission that no child sleeps without a bed… It was incredible to be a part of a build day where we helped build beds for children throughout Kankakee County. It was an incredibly humbling experience, and I hope to volunteer again this year!
The following week brought a slower week for me. I am thankful for the winter months in my business where I can unplug, retreat, and DREAM for the year ahead. It’s so good for my soul. Don’t get me wrong, I love busy season, but I know that my heart and body need the recharge in the quiet winter. And of course, another mentoring session wrapped up and was my last of the year!
And then we were a week away from Christmas! I finished shopping, attended a Kankakee County holiday party, brunched with friends, enjoyed the annual local Christmas cantata with family, and had the best baking day with all the females on my mom’s side of the family… Christmas traditions are just the best!
Christmas really was here and gone so quickly this year! We always eagerly anticipate the Christmas Eve service at our church to fill our hearts of the reason of the season. Of course, I wish we would have had snow, but it didn’t change the fact that I loved spending Christmas with our loved ones and celebrating the engagement of my best friend.
And as usual, the week between Christmas and New Year’s was a blur… Who am I? What am I supposed to be doing? What day is it? I loved taking the week slow, squeezing in two sessions, finishing our DIY record credenza, and spending lots of time with Kyle’s siblings while we celebrated our nephew’s first birthday. So much fun!
The final day of the year brought a day of rest and puppy snuggles with Georgie before we were ringing in the new year (and celebrating my cousin’s birthday!) with family and friends. All in all, 2018 was good to us. We trusted in Him to provide and lead us through the season of life and business, and we are excited for the year ahead!
Happy New Year to you and yours!
