As a wedding photographer (and a newlywed myself), I think that transparency is key in vendor-client relationships when it comes to a couple’s wedding day.
Today, I’m sharing a list of questions that I think are important to ask when searching for a wedding photographer. I hope that brides and grooms can use this short list as a tool while searching for a photographer… I also hope this serves as a guide for couples to use to make sure they are finding a photographer that is the best fit for them and their wedding day needs.
-
How would you describe your photographic style?
-
What is your favorite part about working with couples?
-
What type of coverage do you offer? Hourly, all day, etc.
-
Do you work with a second shooter?
-
Do you travel? If so, how far is the limit?
-
Approximately how many photos will we receive?
-
What print and product options do you offer?
In addition to these answering these questions, I always ask couples about themselves – their love story, their wedding day vision, their interests… Finding a good fit on both sides (photographer and client) is imperative. It’s okay and encouraged to have a conversation, not just a business transaction.
Whether a couple books my services or not, I always work to be as transparent and accommodating as possible, while also finding out if we would be a good fit because after all, I was in their shoes once, too!
