This wedding season, I am so thankful for all of my couples, and especially for the change of pace shooting weddings in our local area – within Kankakee county!
So, of course, I have been looking forward to Arianna and Scott’s wedding for months since we connected through their wedding coordinator, Peggy Mayer. As soon as I met these two and heard of their wedding vision, I knew I would be honored to photograph their intimate May wedding day at the Historic Kankakee Train Depot in Kankakee, Illinois. What I love most about this venue is it’s character… From the brick and textures and twinkly lights to the surprise of trains moving through. This venue is a gem in the local area!
Ari and Scott met after getting out of long term relationships, and their relationship just happened. I love their story because I think that’s sometimes the best kind of love and relationships – the kind you weren’t expecting or looking for… The kind that just happens. And soon enough, Scott proposed over Labor Day weekend (and Arianna’s birthday weekend), and they started planning their wedding day for the following May.
All throughout the day, there was no shortage of laughter or playfulness between these two! Even when an intense rain storm rolled in thirty minutes before their intimate wedding ceremony at the depot forcing the wedding to be moved indoor from the original outdoor plan… These two were smiling and happy and joyful through it all. Luckily, they told me they both enjoy the rain so it was actually quite fitting!
One of my favorite unique details of Arianna and Scott’s wedding day was how they involved their dog, Mopar, into their ceremony and wedding photos. He was escorted down the aisle like a perfect gentleman, posed perfectly for photos, and was all around SO fun to have around on the wedding day!
And to finish the day, we snuck out for sunset photos after the storm, and these two had a few moments of quiet before returning to their reception and celebration. These are some of my favorite photos of these two… Completely relaxed, joyful, and MARRIED!
