Mindi and I have meet on a few occasions in the past, but not officially until her and her fiancé’s engagement session in Watseka, Illinois. As soon as we started our session, I knew it was the perfect day to capture the love that Mindi and Andrew share.
Engagement sessions are some of my favorite sessions to photograph. I really just love couples and their love. I am amazed at the passionate and fulfilling love that my couples share. It is completely contagious.
Sometimes I have to tell myself to take a step back while preparing for these sessions (in a good way, of course!). I tell myself to stop and admire the fact that the photos I am about to create are going to be cherished by this couple, their family, and friends, forever. Because of this, these photos mean so, so much more to me, too. I am exhilarated by this and it pushes me to strive to do more, learn more, and create more.
Our session started at the Watseka Fire Station where Andrew serves as a volunteer fireman – I wanted to be sure that we could include this part of their life together into the session, and we did! Next, we moved to Legion Park in Watseka and ended on a country road near Woodland, Illinois. I love when my clients come to me with location ideas. Yes, I have many places in mind for photos, but it is always more meaningful if we shoot at a location that is special to you!
We were blessed with a gorgeous fall afternoon and beautiful, bright light at our locations. I hope you enjoy some of my favorite photos from the session.
Mindi & Andrew – I’m so thankful that you booked your April 2015 wedding with By Kara. I look forward to your big day and can’t wait to hear about all of your wedding plans!
XOX,
Kara
