It’s Wedding Wednesday!
Today’s post is dedicated to a hot topic, and one that I have wanted to write about for some time. It seems as though weekend after weekend – wedding after wedding – I am reminded about this “part” of weddings, and it’s an important topic to address… At nearly every wedding I photograph, I see a guest wearing a white dress.
So, what’s the big deal about wearing white to weddings? To me, it’s about respect and honoring the bride, groom, and their wedding day union. The wedding day is about solely them (as it should be)!
In my opinion, it’s never okay to wear white to weddings. The only exception? If the bride + groom list on the invitation that they desire their guests to wear white for the occasion!
There are thousands of dresses out there (so I know you can find something non-white to wear!), and while dress shopping as a wedding guest may be challenging at times, it isn’t acceptable to wear white to a wedding! That’s for the bride! And, on the other hand, definitely do NOT ask the bride permission to wear white. That’s a big “no-no”. Just don’t do it!
My advice? No matter what you do… Leave the white dress to the bride!
P.S. – Light beige, off-white, and cream are all classified as the color WHITE in my book!
