Today, we’re talking all about planning stress-free family formal photos on your wedding day!
Wedding days are almost always the first time I meet the family members of our couples. I love this aspect of wedding days because it’s an honor to meet the people that have encouraged, supported, and loved our couples throughout the years.
When planning ahead for wedding photos with our couples, I always work with them to come up with a family formal photo list before their wedding days. This list is so incredibly helpful to me on wedding days so that I can ensure I document all the family photos the couple desires. I always recommend limiting this list to immediate family. We’re talking parents, siblings, grandparents, and nieces and nephews. Then, at the reception, if there are larger group photos needed, we have plenty of time and space for those photos at that point in the day!
I always recommend listing the photos out (with names, too) so that we can keep on track! I’ll use my husband and me as an example – Kyle and Kara. Think about creating a family formal photo list like this…
Kara with Kara’s Parents (Susan + Tim)
Kara & Kyle with Kara’s Parents (Susan + Tim)
Kara & Kyle with Kara’s Parents (Susan + Tim) + Kara’s Siblings (Alyssa)
Kara & Kyle with Kara’s Siblings (Alyssa)
Kara with Kara’s Siblings (Alyssa)
…And the list goes on!
As you’re planning your family formal list, I hope this sample family formal photo list is a great starting place!
