It’s that time of the year! The Pantone color of the year 2022 is here… Viva Magenta!

Each year, I enjoy taking a look at the Pantone color of the year from a wedding lens, especially as a wedding photographer. I love this color and honestly have already started to see it in some of my 2021 and 2022 weddings. I’ve seen this color in details, florals, etc.

According to the Pantone website, Viva Magenta is “brave and fearless, and a pulsating color whose exuberance promotes a joyous and optimistic celebration, writing a new narrative. It is a new animated red that revels in pure joy, encouraging experimentation and self-expression without restraint, an electrifying, and a boundaryless shade that is manifesting as a stand-out statement.” The story behind this color makes me love it even more!

As I mentioned, I’ve already started to see Viva Magenta the last couple of years in some weddings, but I definitely think we will see more of it in 2023! What do you think? Are you loving this color as much as I am? Here are three ways I think we might see the Pantone color of the year in 2023…

1) Paper Goods

I’ve seen pops of this color a lot in paper goods this past year! It’s a great color to add no matter if you’re getting married in the spring, summer, fall, or winter. Even though this may seem like a small detail, paper goods are what truly sets the look of your wedding day and ties it all together!

2) Wedding Party Colors

I actually really love this color for the wedding party, especially during the winter! Wearing different colored bridesmaid dresses has also become really popular over the last year and Viva Magenta always seems to make its way into the group as a color. It’s rich, gorgeous, and a color that looks good on everyone!

3) Florals

And lastly, florals! This might be my favorite way to incorporate Viva Magenta into your wedding day. This is already a color used in wedding florals, and for good reason – it’s gorgeous and adds a fun pop of color!

Here’s to the new Pantone for 2023, Viva Magenta, and hopefully seeing it throughout the 2023 wedding season!
