At the start of 2018, I decided to start a Project 52 (a weekly photo throughout the year)… On a whim!
A few years ago, I completed a Project 365 (a daily photo throughout the year) on insta over at #evansproject365, and while it was so fun to document our year via my iPhone in a new way… It was a lot to keep up with every single day! So when I started this weekly photo project, I decided that each of my weekly photos throughout the year was going to be black and white to keep things super simple.
When I first started this project, I told myself this lie –“you’ll run out of things to photograph in your life”… You only have a dog and you don’t have kids, so this will get boring really quickly. Well, I’m here to tell you that I was so very wrong! This project really did push me outside of my comfort zone and encouraged me to document our LIFE and our right now. I am a photographer, and it’s sometimes silly that I don’t take the time to document our life more often with the “big camera”. I used to always tell myself that my camera was too heavy or too big or there wasn’t enough room in my purse. And I used to only take my camera out for personal use once in while, so I’m so glad I’ve changed. Little moments in our life are the ones that are fleeting, and the ones that we will forget most easily – I want to remember the little and the big moments throughout our days. And you better bet I quickly learned that it isn’t a big deal to just grab my camera with one lens, throw it in my purse or whatever bag I’m walking out the door with, and GO!
Over the past 52 weeks, I have taken my camera out at least once a week for a personal reason. And I have so many more personal photos (that are high quality!) from the past year than ever before! All in all, this project 52 was good for my soul and helped me shift my focus and energy to finding (and documenting) the sweet little moments in this season of our life. After all, it’s so inspiring to take my camera out for life things, too!
Such very good pictures!! All different and all showing so much love. Except for maybe the snow!! What a wonderful project!!
Thank you, Diana! XO
