Throughout the past year of working with Meghan and Derek, it truly hasn’t felt like “working” at all… You see, these two – from the very start – have been encouragers and the kind of people that make you simply feel good to be around!
Last November, Meghan contacted me after I photographed her friends’ wedding (remember Rochelle and Ryan?!). Yet again, I was so thankful to be connected to another wonderful couple through one of my favorite couples of 2015! Meghan was so kind from our initial conversations, coffee dates, phone calls, and everything in between all the way up to her wedding day. As a photographer, working with this bride has been a true joy and simply good for my soul!
This sweet bride of mine is one that would send me thoughtful messages leading up to her wedding day saying things like, “I just want you to know how excited I am for you to be our photographer for our wedding in a few short weeks… ” after seeing a recent wedding blog or Facebook preview. I’m telling you, this bride and her constant thoughtfulness + encouragement are unmatched! And I can tell you that the feeling was completely mutual as the anticipation continued to build for her wedding day.
And then it was here – September 24th – and Meghan and Derek’s wedding day began! As soon as I arrived (and hugged these two “almost” newlyweds) in Springfield at their getting ready location, the rooms were full of joy, excitement, and people that love these two dearly. This was easily evident!
After Meghan dressed in her wedding gown and put on her grandmother’s jewelry, her surprise for Derek arrived to whisk him away to their first look – a vintage Rolls-Royce for transportation. How fun for her groom! And, the moment Meghan and Derek first set eyes on each other on their wedding day is one I will not forget. They quickly embraced, told each other how much they loved one another, and took time to enjoy the quiet moment together. It was beautiful to witness this simplicity and sheer happiness.
This day was simply full of celebration and joy from all the people that surrounded Meghan and Derek. It was so fun to see so many people hugging these two tight and sharing their well wishes! My favorite moment of the day was during the reception when Meghan’s father gave a toast to the newlyweds… Her father was thankful and evidently blessed by these family members and friends, but most of all, he was so proud of loving of his daughter and her new husband. It truly doesn’t get any better than that, and I know that I wasn’t the only one crying tears of joy for this union.
Meghan and Derek – Thank YOU for being such fantastic people to work with and call friends. Looking back on your wedding day brings me joy as your photographer, so I truly hope you love reliving your day through photos! #happilyeverpygott
