I am beyond honored to share Macy and Brandon’s engagement photos and a little bit of their story with you today on the blog!
I’ve known Macy ever since our schools consolidated when we were in grade school/middle school. We’ve played on sports teams together and always known each other throughout our junior high and high school years. And in more recent years, I was so happy to get to see Macy years later after college when her cousin Brianna became one of my brides. Now, it’s incredibly special to me that I will have been the wedding photographer of both of these sweet ladies!
Macy and Brandon’s story goes back to their time at Eastern Illinois University. These two met while in college and shared a love for family and the outdoors. In their early years of dating and attending college, these two would spend time outdoors hiking at Lake Charleston and enjoying the beautiful sights and scenes of nature. More on that soon 🙂
Then, this past June, Macy was completely surprised by Brandon’s proposal. After some convincing from her dad to run to a nearby town to run a few errands or maybe go see a movie, Macy finally gave in and went with her parents to Danville. Once they started heading that direction, they drove to Kickapoo to “see the sunset”. As they were driving down the road, Macy started to see and read signs that had lyrics from the song “From the Ground Up” along the road, and she started to realize what was happening. After getting out of the car, Macy nervously walked down the trail lined with flowers to Brandon. As soon as she made her way down the trail to Brandon, she noticed a small box and flowers around his feet along with his parents with cameras off to the side. Then he said, “Macy, I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?” Of course, Macy said “YES!”
With Macy and Brandon’s love of the outdoors, this proposal was perfect! And the icing on the cake is that their wedding day will be taking place at Starved Rock State Park… This is SO fitting for Macy and Brandon!
After some changes in dates and availability, I was lucky to become their wedding photographer and quickly help plan their engagement session. Macy and Brandon jumped right in to plan outfits and brainstorm for the session. They wanted an outdoorsy location (of course!) for their photos, and we also added in some locations with industrial textures. We even found some fall leaves and colors, too! The day of their engagement session was over 95 degrees in MID-SEPTEMBER, but these two were troopers – laughing, smiling, and enjoying the experience – even though they were so warm!
Macy and Brandon’s engagement session makes me that much more excited for their June 2018 wedding day. Enjoy photos of these two lovebirds!
