Meet Kate and Michael. Going back a few years, these two met in their first and second years of law school in southern Illinois. Michael was someone that Kate didn’t think much of at the time, but soon enough, these two let their guards down and followed their hearts.
Kate and Michael are truly sweet people. I had the pleasure of meeting them at The Elegant Bridal Expo in Champaign this past January and we simply clicked. Over the following months, we have gotten to know each other through phone calls, emails, and FaceTime dates. This couple has opened my heart even more to my couples and to my intentions. They make me want to live more intentionally, shoot more intentionally, and build relationships more intentionally.
Kate and Michael recently “transplanted” to Springfield. You see, throughout their years of dating they were juggling law school, jobs, and internships – and life in general – and never seemed to be in the same place at once. But, in December they moved to Springfield, Illinois together. They were finally in one place, the same place, together.
I loved hearing their proposal story, and they will be the first ones to tell you that they experienced how much of a tender heart I have as tears started rolling down my cheeks while listening to the story. Kate and Michael are a beautiful couple, and I’m the lucky one to know them.
For their engagement session, we planned locations, ideas, and outfits together, and we were thankful for a beautiful spring day in downtown Springfield. We photographed at the Illinois Supreme Court, Law Library, a coffee shop (thanks to Wm. Van’s Coffee House), and near the Lincoln Homestead – I loved incorporating locations that mean something to this couple, and I loved stepping outside of my box!
Needless to say, the photos speak for themselves. This couple is amazing, don’t you see?
