It’s an honor to share Lizzie and Jake’s summer wedding day at the Kankakee County Museum on the blog!
Meet Lizzie & Jake – you might remember these two from their library engagement session earlier this year. These two are kind, compassionate souls that I’m so grateful to know. Here’s a look into their story and intimate wedding day!
From the Couple
We met on a dating app at the beginning of 2020. We were able to go on three in-person dates before the pandemic hit. After that, we did not see each other in person until May 2020. During that time, we texted, video called, wrote letters, and went on virtual dates. Once we were able to see each other in person again, it was clear we were meant to be together. We’ve been growing together as a couple and as better people since then.
The Wedding Day
I’ve loved Lizzie and Jake’s wedding vision from the start. They envisioned a wedding day that was focused on spending time with each other, celebrating with their closest loved ones, and working with Kankakee County vendors. Leading up to their wedding day, Lizzie and Jake told me that they really loved taking their engagement photos and going to the cake tasting.
Their wedding day was a rainy Sunday afternoon in June. The ceremony and reception took place at the beautiful Kankakee County Museum. I love calling Kankakee home and living around the corner from this area. It’s not very often that wedding days take place just a few blocks from my house!
Lizzie and Jake shared a short and sweet ceremony surrounded by the most important people in their life together. After the ceremony, we spent some time taking photos with their families. Then the newlyweds enjoyed coffee and cake while mingling with their loved ones.
While the rainy afternoon moved the ceremony indoors at the Kankakee County Museum, we were thankful that the skies cleared after the ceremony so that we could spend a little time outdoors in the Column Garden. A true gem in Kankakee County!
Fun Fact – Jake’s grandmother worked at the old First Trust and Savings Bank on S. Schuyler in Kankakee, so the Column Garden at the Kankakee County Museum held a very special sentiment for their wedding day.
Well Wishes for the Couple
Lizzie & Jake – Your wedding day was a beautiful testament to the love you two share! Thank you for asking me to photograph your wedding day. I hope you cherish these photos for many years to come!
