You probably remember Jessica and Kurt, and guess what? Today, I’m sharing their WEDDING DAY… Yay! Goodness, this wedding day was wonderful, and Kyle and I left this wedding feeling so thankful.
Jessica and Kurt’s love story started in the summer of 2012 – nearly five years ago – when they met at the Melvin Fair, a small local fair. These two started dating shortly after meeting and have been together ever since! Then, during Christmastime in 2015, Kurt proposed to Jessica! I have known Jessica and her family for years, so it was an honor to hear about Kurt’s proposal + to be asked to photograph their wedding day! And throughout the last year and a half, I have been absolutely honored to get to know these two as a couple leading up to their wedding day and marriage.
I have to tell you that these two have such a fun relationship. They are playful, silly, and can absolutely make one another laugh! They are simple and share a simple kind of love… It’s so very sweet! Oh, and here’s a peek back at part one and part two of their engagement session, too!
This wedding day started out on such a wonderful note! The girls were enjoying their morning together when Kyle and I arrived, and they quickly welcomed us in with open arms. Everyone was laid-back and taking in their last morning with Jessica before she became a MRS! Soon enough, it was time to get Jessica into her dress + reveal her to her bridesmaids. I loved hearing their squeals of excitement and laughter as they saw their sister and friend as a BRIDE. And then Jessica shared a reveal with her dad… So, so sweet!
As the day started to roll with photos of the bridal party + pre-ceremony photos, the heat and breeze surrounded us on this gorgeous day at the farm. And I cannot say enough good things about the venue Jessica and Kurt chose… Hudson Farm in Urbana, Illinois. If I had been in their shoes when searching for a barn venue, I absolutely would have chosen this venue, too! The family – a fifth generation farming family – is so welcoming, kind, and truly wonderful to their couples, guests, and vendors. We LOVED getting to know a little more of their family’s story of how the venue came about, and it was truly a JOY to photograph at this venue (cannot wait to photograph there again in 2018, too). What a perfect place to share love and celebration with newlyweds!
Jessica and Kurt’s intimate ceremony took place inside the barn with so much character, and it was absolutely perfect for these two. I know I may sound like I’m repeating myself, but I just have to tell you that this place was SO Jessica and Kurt. It was just so them!
One of my favorite details throughout this wedding day was the brooch that was attached to Jessica’s bouquet… I had a feeling that it was sentimental while photographing it, but it wasn’t until after this wedding day that I found out the brooch belonged to Kurt’s late grandmother. These special touches on wedding days always bring me tears, and it is so incredibly meaningful to document them. This day was just wonderful!
Jessica + Kurt… Thank you! Your joy and happiness are contagious, so thank you for sharing your love story and wedding day with me (oh and for sharing your love of Tim McGraw, too). Love you two!
