Goodness, I am over the moon excited to share Courtney and Eric’s intimate Chicago rooftop wedding on the blog today!
I adore this couple, their little family, and of course, their dog Hank! You might remember this crew from their winter engagement session last year. It’s been such an honor to be along this wedding planning ride with them, and I truly loved photographing their intimate wedding day. It was romantic and absolutely magical!
From the Bride
Eric and I met on a dating app. On our first date, we both had earlier dates earlier in the night with other people. We found this out later and thought it was pretty funny. Eric says he knew I was the one when I came in and grabbed a bunch of nuts off of the bar and introduced myself, and wanted to take some of the cheese from our cheese plate to go. I knew Eric was the one when he showed up with mini bottles of wine and cheese sticks to sneak into a theater production of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.” We love our dog, Hank, and have fostered many other dogs together. Both of our families have been going to northern Wisconsin for decades, and we love that we can now do both of those trips every summer as a family. Eric and I both have teaching backgrounds, and I think that is why we have a relationship based on strong communication. We welcomed the joy of our lives in April, baby Rowan, and have grown closer together in love as her parents. We let each other be themselves, for better or for worse (but mostly for better)!
The Wedding Day
This intimate Chicago rooftop wedding was a dream, and I’m just loving these micro wedding days! I arrived on the afternoon of October 9th while Courtney was finishing hair and makeup at their apartment where the wedding would take place. Eric was hiding out and getting ready at a separate location so that the big reveal could be at their first look. Everyone was so excited and in great spirits for the evening ahead!
Before we knew it, it was time for Courtney and Eric to share a sweet first look and portraits throughout their apartment complex. And yes, they had the cutest flower girl ever… Their daughter Rowan! Oh, and we can’t forget their cute pup, Hank, too. He was dressed to the nines in a doggy bowtie – I love it!
Then, it was sunset ceremony time – all the HEART EYES! During Courtney and Eric’s ceremony, I don’t think there was a dry eye on their rooftop. Courtney’s brother David officiated the wedding, and they shared their own vows… It was heartfelt and so true to these two and their love. It was an honor to photograph and witness their wedding!
After the ceremony, the celebration was in full swing! From rooftop toasts and first dances to walking down the street to Mart Anthony’s for dinner, this day was perfect for Courtney and Eric. I’m just so, so thankful they asked me to be a part of their Chicago rooftop wedding day!
Courtney + Eric – Thank you for sharing your wedding day with me! I’m beyond thankful for the two of you and hope to photograph your sweet fam for years to come!!
