A couple of weeks ago, I photographed a very special couple! Honored to be sharing Kristopher and Marisa’s engagement photos along Hubbard Street and North Avenue Beach on the blog.
Meet my brother-in-law, Kristopher, and his fiancé, Marisa! My husband Kyle is one of four siblings, and Kristopher is his identical twin brother. It’s funny because sometimes we forget that not everyone knows that Kyle has an identical twin brother. I received so many texts after posting Kristopher and Marisa’s sneak peek on social media with people trying to figure out why Kyle had long hair all of a sudden, ha!
Kristopher and Marisa’s story goes back four years. They met at a mutual friend’s Halloween party, went on a date soon after, and started dating. They’ve grown in their relationship over the years between a long-distance deployment and navigating where they would land in Chicago together. This past summer, Kristopher proposed to Marisa on a trip to Las Vegas. They set out for an early morning hike, and Kristopher proposed with beautiful mountain views as the backdrop. Now, they’re making their new house a home in the city and planning their wedding day for next summer.
We’ve loved Marisa from the start and are forever grateful that she’s joining our family!
For their engagement session, we had fun putting together outfits and narrowing down locations in the weeks leading up to their session. And of course, their Frenchie pup, Olive, got the engagement photo invite from Aunt Kara! If you have a dog and don’t do engagement photos with them, I strongly believe that you are missing out.
We started their session along Hubbard Street. This is a favorite photo spot in Chicago because of all the murals. The color and creativity give a unique backdrop for photos that is unlike others in the city. We enjoyed walking along Hubbard for these photos while Kyle entertained Olive between photos. These photos along Hubbard are some of my favorites from their session!
Next up, we made our way to the skyline at North Avenue Beach. Not too surprising for Illinois, the weather took a turn when we got to the skyline and turned windy and ice cold! Thankfully, Kristopher and Marisa were troopers and braved the cold and wind for some romantic and sweet photos. Even despite the wind, I truly think we captured the essence of their love for one another.
If you can’t tell already, we love this couple so much! We feel grateful to be able to support them throughout the wedding planning process and to cheer them on along the way. Next year is going to be so fun because these two very special people join the married club!
