The first-ever styled shoot (of hopefully many!) at our photography studio took place just one week ago. We loved bringing all the editorial vibes to our natural light studio in Downtown Kankakee with an amazingly talented all-female vendor team!
Have you ever experienced being in a room with like-minded people that drive each other’s creativity, feeding off of each other’s talents?! Gosh, that’s EXACTLY what happened at our editorial studio styled shoot in Downtown Kankakee.
A few months ago, Hannah from Hannah Elisabeth Beauty and I connected and started brainstorming a styled shoot for Q1 in 2022. We had similar goals in mind – read: all the editorial vibes. We instantly aligned on every level in those early conversations of brainstorming. I knew from the start that this was going to be magic!
Rewinding a bit, Hannah and I met so many years ago (2016, wow!) at a wedding we were both working. We’ve stayed in touch over the years and cheered each other on as our businesses have grown and as we’ve both started new business endeavors along the way. When we connected a few months back, I was eager to start planning and loved working with someone that knows the industry well & is willing to step out of the box.
For the styled shoot, Hannah and I envisioned a not-so-styled-shoot vibe for the shoot. Yep, you read that right! As wedding vendors, we’ve seen hundreds of styled shoots over the years. Sometimes inspiration starts to look the same and a fresh take is needed… We envisioned a styled shoot at the studio that had all the editorial vibes. A styled shoot that didn’t feel like just another styled shoot. I think we created that and so much more with our amazing vendor team and models.
A styled shoot that didn’t feel like just another styled shoot…
On the day of the shoot, I welcomed everyone to our newly opened studio in Downtown Kankakee. It’s hard to express how much joy I felt opening the doors & welcoming an incredibly talented vendor team into our space. Everyone was eager for the shoot ahead! Next, enter our AMAZING models, Arika and Ashley. These ladies made the trip to Kankakee and were total rockstars! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, models can make or break a styled shoot… Arika and Ashley were both incredible and brought our vision to life!
Throughout the editorial styled shoot, we all loved ooh-ing and aah-ing over the feminine vibes, models, gorgeous dresses, lush florals, high-end jewelry, and all the details in between. Hannah and her amazing team of hair and makeup artists were on-site throughout the shoot to make sure no beauty detail was overlooked, and our floral designer Michaela was onsite throughout the shoot, too. It was all hands on deck to create such MAGIC! It was a joy to be surrounded by so many talented females that I admire. Creating together was truly a dream!
All in all, I had the absolute best time shooting the first-ever styled shoot at the studio! Here’s to this amazing vendor team and our beautiful models – cheers to more of this kinda magic in 2022!
