More spring engagement photos are hitting the blog today! Meet Allye & Grant – I loved their downtown Springfield engagement session a few weeks back!
Allye and I have Illinois College to thank for our connection over wedding photography and videography. We both went to Illinois College and she’s been following my work since we photographed Kayla and Eric’s wedding back in 2017. I love it! As soon as Grant proposed, Allye reached out, we hit it off, and we’ve been planning details for their wedding day ever since.
Allye and Grant both went to Illinois College, but they didn’t really know each other during their college years. After graduating, Grant sent Allye a message and they started messaging back and forth. A few weeks later, they went on their first date. They sat at a local bar talking for hours. After their first date, they continued talking every day, started officially dating, and even started traveling (one of their favorite things!) together, too.
Earlier this year on 2/22/2022, Grant surprised Allye by proposing on a trip to Denver with friends. After a few pivots in their original plan due to a snowstorm, everything aligned and Grant got down on one knee. Now, they call southern Illinois home with their puppy, Waukee, and are planning their dream wedding together!
On the evening of Allye and Grant’s engagement session, we were so thankful for a gorgeous night in downtown Springfield. The sun was shining and it was in the 80s – perfect! We started their session at Obed & Isaac’s where they grabbed a beer at the beer garden. I loved starting their session on this note and getting to sit and catch up before we started shooting. Then, we wandered around the Lincoln Homestead before making our way to the most fun flower mural… All the heart eyes!
Then, onto their second outfit along Capitol Avenue and at a parking garage to get the downtown Springfield vibes. These two were so easygoing and trusting of me throughout the entire session, and that makes my creative heart so happy! I’d be up for running around town taking photos, giggling, talking all things wedding, and gushing over our dogs anytime with Allye and Grant!
Allye and Grant’s engagement session and talking all things wedding makes me even more excited for their wedding day! And I think their adorable puppy just might steal the show on their wedding day. Can’t wait to meet you, Waukee!!
