Happy May!
Well, the good news is this – we made it through the month of April. The bad news? We’ve gotta stay home for the month of May, too!
Even while this season is a very trying one (to put it nicely), I’m finding moments of joy, goodness, and thanks. And if having healthy loved ones means staying home another month, then I’ll do just that! I want to come out of this season and be able to look back knowing I did my part in taking care of my family, my clients, and our community. I’d rather be way too cautious and nothing happens than not cautious enough and regretful, but that’s just me.
The month of April is a blur looking back, really. As I’m sure it is for many! Kyle and I worked on home projects together, cleaned up the yard, made garden plans, and dreamed of warmer days ahead. I don’t know about you, but the promise of spring growth and warmth is bringing so much light into my life during this season. What a beautiful promise to keep digging into these hard days (and season) and finding the beauty around us and ahead of us.
By the middle of the month, we celebrated our first Easter at home, just us. We’ve been together for almost 12 years and this was our first Easter without any family – so bittersweet. We made the best of the day with baking, smoking a prime rib, and enjoying a candlelit dinner with Georgie.
A few days after Easter, we adopted a puppy brother for Georgie! We’ve been keeping our eye out for puppies since Thanksgiving and finally found the perfect little man to join our family. Our new family member, Jett, is a pure border collie and FULL of puppy. He’s sweet when he wants to be and in most other moments he is as rotten as can be. We love him so! With Jett joining our family, the month of April was filled with new day-to-day routines and lots of puppy training. I’m also happy to share that Georgie girl is quite the big sister! She’s showing him the ropes (literally trying to teach him tuggy) and even lets him snuggle her on the daily. Heart eyes!
We rounded out the month with more time at home – building storage shelves in our basement stairwell, doing a pantry makeover, watching the TV series Waco, and enjoying our first sushi date in over two months due to the stay at home order. Gotta love at-home date nights!
I hope your month of April brought moments of joy. This is a weird season, but we’re all doing our best to hang in there.
Sending my love! ?
