Anne and Richard’s wedding day photos are here and ready to share!
This wedding day at the Westin Chicago River North was a wedding day I won’t forget… The weather forecast fluctuated SO much in the days leading up to this wedding day, but of course, it was a beautiful sunny day in the 70s in Chicago! I had been looking forward to this wedding day ever since meeting and connecting with Anne and Richard last summer. These two love their people, and I could only anticipate the fun and joy and celebration that their wedding day would encompass!
These two both attended Ohio State University and built quite the tribe of people there. According to Richard, they knew each other during their college years, but Anne doesn’t remember meeting him! So, they officially met for the first time (or again!) in Chicago through mutual friends. Goodness, what amazing friends to have connected these two! Years later on the night Richard proposed to Anne, he had a lovely evening planned in the city, but Anne wasn’t ready on time so the plans had to be improvised… I LOVED hearing these two recount this story with laughter when I first met them. What a reminder that sometimes things don’t go as planned, but beautiful things often come from these moments. Oh, and after the proposal these two even got to celebrate their engagement with their close family and friends at dinner!
This wedding day started on such a relaxed note – I remember arriving to the ladies getting ready, hanging out, and jamming out to some of their favorite music. The atmosphere of fun and the celebration was already so welcoming that I could tell it was the note for the entire day… Yay! Soon enough, it was time for Anne to dress in her wedding gown – her mother’s wedding gown from 1969. I cannot tell you how much I LOVE that Anne wore her mother’s wedding dress on her wedding day, so special!
After the first look (of course with champagne!), we had so much fun photographing the bride, groom, and bridal party around the Chicago River Walk near the Westin River North. It was a beautiful day in the city, so of course the area was busy but that didn’t stop us from having fun with these photos – even Richard enjoyed the photos more than he thought he would! The energy and excitement of this bridal party was contagious!
Then it was time for the wedding ceremony where Anne and Richard officially became a married couple… And as soon as they were announced Mr. and Mrs., it was really time to CELEBRATE! I loved how the ceremony space at the venue allowed guests to flow into an indoor/outdoor cocktail hour and then into this glamorous pink, gold, and navy blue reception (hello beautiful details, decor, and paper goods!). Their planner, Sarah, with Sarah Kathleen Events was AMAZING all throughout the day from finalizing decor to helping guests flow from the ceremony to cocktail hour to simply being a joy to work with… We were so lucky to be able to connect with Sarah at this wedding, and I know that Anne and Richard were so lucky to have her guidance and expertise and fun personality, too!
At the end of this wedding day, I truly think it was everything Anne and Richard could have imagined… And it was so wonderful to hear memories and stories all throughout this day about their relationship, college days, and stories of when they met in Chicago. The day was so full of fun and celebration honoring their new marriage with ALL of their favorite people. It doesn’t get better than that!
